OMG! Manifold Motion is Awesome!

Manifold Motion's ability to work magic with yarn puts to shame all the stitchin', bitchin' hipsters whose facility with knitting needles has never exceeded the ability to make scarves. Part meditation on our hyper-mediated culture, part paean to the arts and crafts movement, Manifold Motion's is a stunningly imaginative dance performance that's more than worth the drive to West Seattle.

At some point around the beginning of hour three of Bertolt Brecht's , you're finally overwhelmed. Perhaps it was the hot black box theatre, perhaps it was the uncomfortable seats, but as the play reaches it painful conclusion, despite the occasional weaknesses of the production, we found ourselves fighting back tears. That's nothing if not the sign of a great play.

This weekend, the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center is having an Open House, while Cooper Artist Housing is having Open Studios. We know this because some old friends of ours are Cooper cultists and they sent us a postcard. How droll! How last century!

The above is a video composed of footage from Mind Camp 2.0, held in April earlier this year. Seattlest attended and had some great interactions discussing the web, debating the future of digital music, melting hard drives and eating some far from mediocre food. We mention all of this because earlybird registration has opened up for Mind Camp 3.0, to be held November 11-12 at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. They've only released half of the available spots for this reduced price, so if you're interested, you'll want to move quickly.

Once again, we trucked it all the way across the West Seattle Bridge this week to check out the latest installment in the Four Sheep Acoustic Music Series at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center.

You got something better to do? We don't believe you.

Okay so West Seattle isn't exactly the most convenient place for going out on a weeknight, unless, of course, you live in West Seattle. But for those of us acoustic music enthusiasts here in the cool part of town (ouch!), it'll have to do for now.
