Issaquah-based Organic To Go (which bought out Briazz a few years ago) is cutting 30 percent of its staff, says Northwest Innovation, and that despite a terrific advertising push. Meanwhile, Seattle's Cobalt Group just laid off 45 people, reports TechFlash. Cobalt runs auto dealer websites, and its CEO says that "auto sales are at a 50 year low and that an estimated 900 auto dealers have gone out of business this year." We honestly don't know how organic car sales are doing, but we bet the situation isn't great for them, either.

Seattlest, like many of you, has to be at the office today instead of in the living room in front of the TV, which is where we want to be right now. We're following the election news on KUOW/NPR (94.9 FM) and keeping an eye on CNN.com, MSNBC.com, and King County Votes (which also has a helpful Twitter feed). If you're not watching tv today and you're trying to keep up on the news, what sites are you reading/obsessively refreshing?
But one day, one day...the -est will triumph! And we will store the Webby proudly in our non-existent imaginary headquarters, and it will be magnificent.
With the sun out, the temperatures high, one can only think of one thing-- what's going on in the World of the -ist's?
You're watching this show "The Deadliest Catch" on Discovery right? If you're not the second season is just starting and typical of modern day television they show every episode eight hundred million times over and over again so you'll have no troubles catching up with the fleet. The show follows a handful of crab fishing vessels up in Alaska through their season with a bunch of cool videography and a ridiculous narrator ("DEATH IS ALWAYS PRESENT AT SEA" and that kind of thing). It's awesome.
Seriously folks—and by "folks" we mean the writer-producers of Grey's Anatomy who likely will never read one word of our caustic, bitter prose—seriously. You gotta give us something to work with here. A recapper's job is a lonely and not very exciting one, and is made exponentially lonelier and less exciting when the object of our recapping is, how should we say...devoid of any action. When the most captivating event to take place in an hourlong drama is a self-done haircut done by one of the characters, you know you're in for a long night. Not that we didn't enjoy the episode, cause we did. It's just...if you're really gonna resort to the theatrics of personal minutiae at least make them ones involving Burke busting a move. We're just saying. So here we go.
Ray Allen got in a fight with Orlando's Keyon Dooling during last night's Sonics win. The fight started on the wing, at the three-point arc, but Allen and Dooling ended up wrestling each other on top of two fans sitting courtside.
Matthew Baldwin went out for a run recently on what appears to be a fantastic spring day and brought along a friend and a camera. Oh, and since he's Matthew Baldwin he also packed his sense of humor (as seen on your favorite web sites like www.defectiveyet.com and www.themorningnews.org). The result is the "A Run Around Lake Union" photo series.
