Gallery: Weezer Brought Long Lost Memories to Light

Thanks goes out to Weezer for reminding us of the good times in high school and forgetting the pimples, broken hearts and harsh curfews. more ›

Slayer & Rob Zombie Ready to Rock the WaMu Theater

Two powerhouses of Metal, Slayer and Rob Zombie bring their acts to Seattle’s WaMu Theater tonight for not one but two FULL headlining sets. So break out your leather jacket (you know, the one with the pentagram on the back), and get ready to have your face melted off. more ›

Gallery: The Old As Good As the New. Bad Religion and Rise Against Slayed

             + 4 more

Despite the overwhelming sense of being in a huge warehouse as you walk into WAMU even the opener, Four Years Strong, drew quite a sizable crowd. By the time Bad Religion walked on stage, the floor was filled with a small army of concert-goers raring to go. Luckily, we were at a safe distance from the crowd-surfing and mosh pit, so no bruises or internal bleeding this time. more ›

MONKEYSHINES: We were going to suggest you go see Chris Cornell at the Showbox SoDo, but it's sold out. So instead we'll remind you that you have until May 10 to catch the Curious George-inspired exhibit at the Children's Museum, Let's Get Curious! Is it an egregious example of product placement? Whatever, we just like it, to paraphrase Liz Lemon. Not to overshare, but Curious George was easily the most appealing character we remember coming across in our toddling era. Oh, that monkey! more ›

WAMU'S KRAUSS PLANT: Tonight's the night: some old dude named Robert Plant is appearing with the angelically voiced Alison Krauss. They're touring for the album Raising Sand, which Rolling Stone praised for its "relaxed, smoky harmonies and reverbed midtempo rockabilly." All ages. Or you could go see Great Big Sea with all these people. more ›

Weekend Music

Tonight, drink pricey beers at the WaMu Theater (hey, they need the money!) before The Kills and The Raconteurs. You best get there early; believe us, it takes a lotta beers to make Jack White look pretty, but no drinks at all to make him sound good. more ›

Radiohead May Play Somewhere Near Seattle Sometime This Year

Radiohead May Play Somewhere Near Seattle Sometime This Year

Could we be any vaguer? No, but that doesn't mean there's still not any reason to get excited. With In Rainbows making its formal debut atop the Billboard charts, Radiohead is set to cover North America in two tour legs, one prior to and one following their recently announced European summer tour (June 6 in Dublin through July 8 in Berlin). more ›

We Call It: The Best Shows of 2007

magazine claims, "You can't swing a dead cat this time of year without hitting a Top 10 List." Never one to waste a perfectly good dead cat, we decided to take a swing and create a Top Random-Number Shows Seattlest Saw This Year. And now, without any further ado, here's how your favorite bloggers broke down the year: more ›

Get Out Thursday: Liars + Interpol

A while back, we posed some questions and then got some answers about WaMu Theater. A Seinfeldian what is the deal? kind of thing. Well, we're finally going to find out for ourselves whether the joint is a "concrete cave" with poor sound, or an innovative concert hall. Either way we're super-excited about this show. more ›

The New Ann Wilson

If you would've told us back in the golden days of Heart, back in the "Barracuda" days, that Ann Wilson would one day record a version of "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" featuring guest vocalists Shawn Colvin and Rufus Wainwright, Seattlest would've told you to shut the hell up. But now here we are in 2007, when Mandy Moore and Babyface have gone and recorded folk music records, or at least records that show off as folkie as Mandy Moore and Babyface can possibly be. more ›

So That's What WaMu Theater Is...

So That's What WaMu Theater Is...

Last week, Seattlest posed the question, "Just what is WaMu Theater?" According to the comments that followed this question, WaMu Theater is an "insincere" "characterless" "uninviting" "concrete cave" with "crappy sound". more ›

Just What is WaMu Theater?

Just What is WaMu Theater?

When entertainment giant AEG Live announced plans to create a new and innovative music venue inside Quest Field Events Center, we imagine a big to do with all the local press in a large room packed with music lovers on one side and bankers on the other. Wonder which side was clapping more wildly... more ›

Look for Obama at the Greenlake Courts

Look for Obama at the Greenlake Courts

There's a neat article about Barack Obama's love of pickup basketball in today's New York Times. There's also this video where Obama's brother-in-law explains that the left-handed Obama likes to drive left, and has a nice jump shot. This is information we need about presidential candidates, in our view. more ›
