Our ceiling flooded all of a sudden this morning, after our last post. But what's a little fallen, drenched ceiling when there's a once-in-a-lifetime presidential election going on, eh? We left our friendly maintenance guy to talk to himself, sop things up with rags, dry things out with lamps, and headed back over to the Baltic Room for a little E-Day madness. There were at least as many people there as had been there when we left. Signs were everywhere. Food and drink was everywhere. Someone made Obama cookies, as you can see (delicious! probably all gone now).

We catch some flack around the Seattlest newsroom for being too snarky sometimes and felt like we should trumpet some of the pride we honestly do feel about our city. It's hard not to love this place what with our staggeringly cool views, great live music scene and vociferous yet generally congenial civic debate. Now we can add generous service for the public good to that list.

This is pretty heartwarming stuff. The NBA asks teams who play against New Orleans to do a little community service while they're there. Teams do, often haphazardly, sending a couple of players along to some pre-selected site.
