Need something to put you in the mood as you fill out your ballot? Check out this awesomely pretty video that the folks at Rogue Scholar put together for the Washington Bus.

Your Monday Afternoon Kitty Video: This Cat Actually Says "Om Nom"
Most Mondays, we treat you to furry afternoon treat. Today is no exception.
Songs for the Fourth: Get Your America On
Sick of all those cliched songs like "Livin' in the U.S.A" by the Coug or "God Bless the U.S.A." by Lee Greenwood? Yeah, us too. So we decided to throw together a not-so-conventional soundtrack for your Fourth.
PM Video: Baby Tree Kangaroo Emerges
We may not get to see a baby elephant for a few years, but luckily, Woodland Park Zoo has posted a video of a much smaller creature: a baby tree kangaroo.
Look Up! St Patty's Day Edition
Let's kick this drinking, raucous, rollicking, and fight-inducing holiday off right. The Dropkick Murphys released a new album that's kicking some of its own ass. Here's a vid of their single "Going Out in Style".
Tuesdays are Muppet Days
Nine Inch Snails play their industrial self-hate rock in this clip from the underrated and sorely missed Muppets Tonight.
Tuesdays are Muppet Days
For your weekday enjoyment, here's "Habanera" from Bizet's Carmen sung by the Muppets, with Beaker playing the role of Carmen and the Swedish Chef as Don José.
Tuesdays are Muppet Days
Apropos of it being 2:18 on a relatively banal Tuesday, here's Bohemian Rhapsody as sung by the Muppets. (via Chicagoist).
Scarecrow Launches "Only on VHS" Section
Remember when no one knew the difference between a laserdisc and a videodisc, and frankly, only videophiles cared? VHS had doused Betamax in pig's blood and stood alone as home video prom king. Scarecrow's new Only on VHS section makes it easy to get a hit of that sweet analog tape. More to the point, it features movies that have not yet been released on DVD, including gems like Let It Be and 99 and 44/100% Dead as well as rhinestones such as The Legend of Billie Jean and Swayze Dancing. Dust off your VCR and give it a workout. (We can't resist a trivia nugget: What does VHS stand for? Video Home System.) Just remember that now-vintage mantra: Be kind, rewind.
Election Dance Party USA
There was a happy commotion on the real Capitol Hill last night at Broadway and Pike. Naturally it involved Journey. (Thanks to Todd for posting the great video above on YouTube. How about an aerial view, you ask?) Over on the other side of the country, DC got down, too. New York took pictures of itself, Chicago understandably took more, Los Angeles was ready for a close-up, Philly got it on video, San Francisco--well of course San Francisco partied, even Toronto celebrated, while London livebloggged.

The Election's Close; Here's Something to Consider...
...if you're heading to the next round of caucuses this Sunday. We can't think of any local angle on this, but it's important to share this kind of information with our readers when we find it. Because, let's face it, stuff like this can sway voters, folks. (NSFW, unless you have headphones):
Say "Bacon Salt" One More Time. I Dare You.
Enough. It's Bacon Salt Backlash time. Seattlest got in our car to drive home last night and Bacon Salt came on the radio. We opened up the newspaper yesterday and Bacon Salt. Bacon Salt, Bacon Salt, Bacon Salt.
Elsewhere In The Ist-a-verse
Even as the stores sport back to school sales (which depress us, even now), summer lingers on your friends the -ists. This week's collection of links provides some of the best, worst, and oddest bits of summer fun. So, bring your laptop up onto the roof, make yourself an umbrella drink or ten, and enjoy this week's choice posts from across the Gothamist network.
Week In Ist
SFist commeters pose for before and aftershocks when the mayor commemorates a 1906 earthquake...at 4:30 in the morning. A hot tip on the Chronicle vending machines comes in and the SFist war correspondent risks life and limb to post this dispatch from the frontlines.
All the Reel Grrls
Seattlest has been looking forward to the opening of Central Cinema since we first heard of its existence-to-be a year ago. Kevin Spitzer's idea for a restaurant-cum-theater just plain appeals to us, especially since he's planning to feature movie-themed menus, like truffles accompanying Chocolat or spicy noodles with Tampopo. If the chefs are able to recreate that amazing meal from Big Night, Seattlest will be one contented food/film lover.
