Sunday evening, we dragged our barely thawed out bodies to the M. Women, Abe Vigoda, and Wild Nothing show at the Vera. We're glad to announce it was well worth the cold and dreary journey. The night was so full of catchy, dreamy, and gothy sounds. Our usual frustration with the lackluster crowds of Vera (is it the sobriety? The emphasis of all-ages? The multicolored bathroom stalls?) were completely stifled because the sets were so good.

Vera's Turning 10 So It's Throwing a Party...
You can thank a bunch of idealistic folks named James Keblas, Shannon Stewart, Dave Minert and Kate Becker for today's thriving all-ages scene. These visionaries worked with the City of Seattle to eliminate many of the overbearing laws that kept kids out of 21+ music venues. Through their hard work and dedication they created their own all-ages music venue called The Vera Project where music lovers not yet old enough to buy beer can see national touring acts as well as gain valuable skills. This Saturday we celebrate The Vera Project's 10th anniversary with cake (everyone loves cake) and an excellent party.
Friendly Folk-Pop for the Kids: Hey Marseilles at Vera This Saturday
Before the seasons changed and our rain-induced pseudo-hibernation began, we were able to gather up many fond musical memories during festival season. During one such venture we were able to talk to Hey Marseilles and Fences as part of our Better Know a CHBP Band series. As luck has it the two bands will be playing the Vera Project this Saturday. (Tickets $10, all ages, 7:30 PM)
Seattlest Picks for the Capitol Hill Block Party
Friday: Catch Common Market (4:30) and U.S.E. (5:30) at the main stage, then skip over to King Cobra for the second half of Truckasaurus (6:00). Take a dinner break (may we suggest eating something protein-heavy?), then get yerself to Neumo's for Thee Emergency at 7:45. After that, we suggest Das Llamas (it's their last set...THEIR LAST ONE!) at 9:45 at the Cha Cha. To round out the night, buy yourself a fancy rum drink at Havana and party until the wee hours with DJ Curtis.
