Last night's Walk the Walk fashion show at the Crown Hill Village was a strange, delightful study in contrasts: Cocktails on Crown Hill. A brand new thrift store -- gleaming, polished fittings ready for secondhand clothing. A fashion show using clothing no one wanted. Check out the highlights.

Walk the Walk: Fashion Show at Crown Hill Value Village
And tonight, there will be another Value Village storefront to welcome to the neighborhood... Crown Hill that is, with a retro (70s, 80s and 90s themed) fashion show to help celebrate the opening of Seattle's largest Value Village, curated by Lady Konnyaku, Seattle's own vintage queen and recycled fabric designer. Admittance is free with a donation of clothing to benefit the event beneficiary, Community Services for the Blind and Partially Sighted.
For Becca, Perfect Popovers
If you are very lucky, old friends will on occasion fly across the country to visit you. They’ll sit on your couch and tell you which of your college chums became a body builder. When necessary, they’ll gently remind you whatever dating mishaps have recently befallen you, nothing could top the Beckett-quoting fool you were smitten with freshman year. These friends are to be treasured, given fresh towels and mints on their pillow. The morning after they arrive, when they make not a peep about your tiny bed or your 5’5” shower head--well then, then they should be given popovers. Steaming hot, fluffy popovers. Preferably with cheese and fresh jam.
What's Worth Trekking to Northern Seattle For?
"I don’t venture north of even the cut, unless provoked." So said one Seattlest contributor when we asked what inspires us to turn our backs on downtown and drive north. Wimp.
Concretes Robbed
This is barely Seattle related - only because they're playing a show here in two days - but The Concretes got jacked in Gotham recently. From the announcement on their site:
It Takes a Value Village Fashion Show
The Second Annual Value Village Fashion Show is pouring a 50-gallon drum of gasoline on the fires of costumery this weekend, so don't think that you're finished with dress-up for the season after you trudge home commando in your gorilla suit Sunday morning. You still have to get to the Rendezvous Sunday evening for this show.
