UW grad Hope Solo held the high-powered Brazilian offense scoreless in the Beijing Olympics gold medal soccer game and led the US squad to its third gold medal in four tries. The evenly-matched contest was scoreless at the end of regulation, with Carli Lloyd putting the Americans ahead 1-0 in the first extra time period and giving the US the lead for good with a crossing shot from the edge of the box.
