If you’re one of those people who can’t even sew on a button, then you might be dubious about the extent to which such a skill could translate into a lucrative business. Well, it most certainly can and, based on the high number of giddy participants at Urban Craft Uprising this weekend, it often does.

KEXP FAVORITES LIVE & FREE!: Kick off the weekend tonight by heading to KEXP's Concerts at the Mural, the first of the free all-ages concert series put on at the Seattle Center. Tonight's tunes will feature a few of KEXP's favorite bands: Blitzen Trapper and Throw Me The Statue. The show is tailored to the culturally curious, seeking out best of the area’s independent music scene. And it's been at least 18 months, since we were non-parents at the time. And we really liked it, so we're not sure exactly why we haven't been back, but back we haven't been. Urban Craft Uprising has their timing down. Most of the people we talked to at the show were there to do their Christmas shopping. While some diehard craftaholics were doing all of their shopping there, we settled for checking off half the people on our list.

You absolutely have to go to Urban Craft Uprising this weekend at Seattle Center. If anyone tries to stand in your way tell them that it's to Christmas shop - Consumerism is a valid excuse for anything. Then, when you get there, shop for yourself. Buy like eight things you can't live without. When you get home you'll realize that your bank account dictates that you can indeed live without at least four of them. Wrap those up as Christmas gifts, but don't deliver them immediately. You've got another couple of weeks to save up and if everything works out well you may yet be able to keep them for yourself.

Maybe we failed to give credit where credit was due yesterday in the Bumpershoots post. Some of the best stuff at the festival tends to not be music (notably the 826 thing from last year) and they have a lot of cool sounding events listed on their website that aren't music, but definitely are worthy of a mention.
