If you have not made it into Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle for their Barleywine Bacchanal yet, it's not too late. Tonight, they will be tapping three different vintages of the Lagunitas Olde Gnarly Wine ('04, '06 & '07), which enables you to see exactly how this beer changes over time. At 9.7% alcohol, it shines after a few years. The contrast between the '04 and '07 should be very interesting. Stay away......

To many beer lovers in the Northwest, this time of year means one thing: It's barley wine season. This style of beer can be very flexible, but it usually signifies high alcohol and a big flavor profile. The Alaskan Barley Wine has been a local favorite since 2003, but this was the first year that it was released in bottles (about $8.50 for a 22-ounce bottle). This barley wine is ready to enjoy now......

This Seattlest had some family visiting this weekend and felt it was his duty to show them some of his favorite beer spots in town, even if they could probably care less. There were quite a few beers of note that were on tap and should still be around. We also found a few bottles of Lost Abbey Judgement Day at Esquin Wine this weekend. We didn't realize the Seattle market was getting this......

#1 on our list of events for the weekend is the Elysian Pumpkin Beer Festival this Saturday up at the Capitol Hill location. There will be 13 different pumpkin beers on tap, including the GABF silver-medal-winning The Great Pumpkin Ale. Festivities begin at noon with the tapping of the Great Pumpkin at 4pm; a huge pumpkin in which a batch of Night Owl carried out its secondary fermentation. Yum. Beers From Elysian: Night Owl Pumpkin......

Dive bars are not supposed to have good beer, right? Well, this is not exactly a dive - but it is definitely a little unpolished compared to most good beer bars in the city. That is just fine with Seattlest. Duck Island is located just up Aurora on the north side of Greenlake, right next to Beth's Cafe and in the same 2 block strip as Kangaroo & Kiwi and Uber Tavern. The Beer:......

Um, we are not so sure this is a good idea.....but, Uber Tavern up on Aurora is hosting a "pub crawl by bike" this Sunday, August 12. Actually, hell yeah it is a good idea. Just WEAR A HELMET, please. If you can make 11 (all awesome) bars in 1 day on a bike, kudos. From Uber's email: Starting time? 1pm at Uber Tavern (we will open 2 hours early for the occasion) How......

We were sitting at Uber Tavern this weekend drinking a few beers, and the bartender brings in these awesome looking sandwiches that he and his buddies start chowing down on. He notices us staring (And possibly drooling just a little bit) and he throws us their menu and says, "It's only 3 blocks up the street and the sandwiches are great. Just order now. They close in 20 minutes." The new restaurant is called......

If you love stouts, like we do, you are going to want to hop in your car/get on the bus/ride your bike up to Uber Tavern in Greenlake for a taste of the 2003 Silver City Imperial Stout. First off, Uber Tavern is just an amazing beer bar. It has been around less than a year, but has a very strong following among locals and beer nerds. Get there early if you go on......
