Three members of Rep. Rick Larsen's staff have been fired in the wake of one of the most boneheaded uses of Twitter in the site's history.
Washington Congressional Staffers in Twitter Scandal
Tweeter of the Week: @SeattleDJC
If you're even remotely interested in what's opening, closing, or happening in Seattle, it's wise to immediately begin following the Daily Journal of Commerce's Twitter account. It's as simple as that.
Tweeter of the Week: @AlaskanViaduct
What's lightening the mood of Viadoom? The Viaduct itself, silly.
Tweeter of the Week: @veraproject
Our favorite Twitter account this week goes out to all the young folks.
Extra, Extra: Drunk Boaters, Bad Budgets and Seattle Police are on a Tweet Beat
The Seattle Police Department has another Tweet-a-Thon, Gregoire is advising everyone to batten down the budgetary hatches, and a whole lot of drunk people got cited over the weekend.
McGinn Wades Into Human Trafficking Spat (Or, That Time Ashton Kutcher Tweeted About Seattle)
A letter from Mayor McGinn to The Village Voice has put the Mayor squarely in the middle of a no-holds-barred fight between the star of Punked! and a hip, New York newspaper/massive media conglomerate.
Tweeter of the Week: @SEACityLight
This week's pick for Seattle's must-follow Twitter account will shed some light on the many uses of Seattle's utilities.
Washington State GOP Pressures Inslee Over Decade-Old Weiner Donation
The biggest non-scandal of the month has hit home again. On Thursday, the day US Representative Anthony Weiner resigned over the controversy surrounding a scandalous picture on his Twitter, the Washington State GOP re-tweeted a public records enthusiast who came up with this underwhelming nugget:
Tweeter of the Week: @NFMASeattle
Each week, Hanna highlights her favorite local Twitter account. Think of it like #FollowFriday, but less about getting followers, and more about exposing users that are notable, humorous or informative--and always under 140 characters. This week, it's to market, to market.
Tweeter of the Week: @SeattleBuskers
From now until I forget to do it, each Thursday, I'm going to highlight my favorite Seattle Tweeter. Think of it like #FollowFriday, but less about getting followers for myself, and more about exposing Twitter accounts that are notable, humorous or informative--and always under 140 characters.
Extra, Extra
Hikes and declines in the news today. Tuition is up, the Mayor is down and Weinergate rages on.
Seattle Public Library on Twitter
Two weeks into the new year, Seattle Public Library (SPL) is proving it's changing with the times. Last week, it was announced that SPL is offering free mp3 downloads to library card holders through Freegal. This week, SPL announced that it is now on Twitter @SPLBuzz
Mixer Connects Non-profits with Tech Volunteers
33 people gathered at Tap House Grill in Bellevue last night for Seattle Net Tuesday’s Tech Volunteer & Non-profit Mixer. The crowd included a variety of local computer programmers, testers and IT support specialists. First time attendee, software tester Paul Wirsing came out because he was “curious and wanted to see what opportunities are available to help.” Representatives from non-profits like Olive Crest, KITH and Girls in Tech were also present to share their needs with these tech savvy volunteers.
Holy Tweet, What Just Happened?!

New Snow Plan Gets Social
Mayor Nickels took heavy fire for the City's handling of the storm. It certainly cost him some goodwill, and whoever our next mayor is, he'd better be equipped to respond to winter storms effectively and quickly if he expects his constituents to stay happy.
Brandon and Molly: Crossing Delancey
He's Brandon Pettit, musician from New York. She's Molly Wizenberg, the voice of Orangette. Their romance is chronicled in Molly's book, A Homemade Life (a title that makes you think it's going to be about an old lady's patterns for quilts, while it's actually two interwoven stories about Molly's dad and Molly's boyfriend). Anyway, Brandon--a composer and lecturer who studied in France (as did Molly)--moved to Seattle and, wouldn't you know it, decided that his calling life was (wait for it) pizza.
She's A-Comin' Through the Mountain
None of Seattle's typical "too cool for school" stand-offishness. Tens of thousands of cheerful riders, oohing and cooing, tweeting and twittering along SoundTransit's light rail line. Dozens of staffers in dayglo green shirts directed (human) traffic, and the trains (speedy, quiet) ran every ten minutes or so, tunneling under Beacon Hill and emerging high above MLK in Mt. Baker. (Big crowds expected at the Stadium station, where the MLS Sounders played Chelsea.)

Wanted Bank Robbery Suspect Shot On Greenwood Ave.
Released via the Seattle Police Department Twitter feed, officers shot a man yesterday at Greenwood Ave. N and Holman Road, who is suspected in yesterday's Shoreline bank robbery and a string of other bank robberies. Prior to shots being fired, officers had spotted the bank robbery suspect stopped in traffic at Holman and 3rd Ave. with a stolen pick-up truck. A team of police cars quickly began to box in the truck. Trying to flee, the suspect rammed the stolen pick-up into a police car and a car carrying a father with his kids at the corner of Greenwood Ave. N and Holman Road. Police fired four shots, stalling the suspect who sustained injuries to his arm. The family of three was uninjured.

When a Bear Visits Your School
Shoreline Schools has just released what we think is their first-ever guide to their newest ursine drop-in student. Sounds like they're taking an anti-bullying stance: "This morning a jogger reported seeing a bear behind Kellogg/Shorecrest headed into the Hamlin Park woods. Yesterday afternoon it was reportedly seen near Parkwood in the Twin Ponds area. As reported on the news, this type of bear is not a threat to people unless cornered. Our students have been advised to stay away from the bear if sighted."

Tonight, a Twitter Dinner with James Beard Nominees
As we mentioned on Friday, we've got a dinner invitation of sorts for you tonight.
Courtney Love: Bitch Still Crazy
Kurt Cobain's widow is supposedly all pissed off yet again, this time about moving men throwing out a dead bird that was actually a £8,000 piece of art by British taxidermy artist Polly Morgan. The piece of art was in Love’s bedroom, with its pedestal already packed to be sent to her new house; the bird was left sitting on a sideboard, and when the movers came, they threw it away. In response, Courtney fired her assistant. We scoured Ms. Love's completely unintelligible Twitter feed for any sic-heavy, crazy-ass, 140-character rants on the topic, and all we found were the following: "they threw out my El Pollo Loco the first Polly Morgan piece and she is gracious enought o find another embryonic chicken and put it under a belljar w a lil chandelier." and "Polly Morgan is a great artist and i thought this would stir uop a debate about art vs trash." Indeed.
Weekend Sun on the Way, Says Parella
We just added Q13's Parella Lewis to our Twittabase--we wanted to make sure we're bringing you a fair and balanced weather report--and already she's rewarded us by predicting a partly sunny weekend. Contrast this with Cliff Mass, working out of the notorious socialist stronghold of the UW, and his fixation on depressing graphs about the cold. As a caveat, four of Lewis's recent tweets mention drinking coffee to wake up and another one is a Thoreau quote, so it sounds like she's as desperate for sun as anyone else.
