Unlike our beloved baseball All Star Game, we’ve tended to skip the NBA's version in recent years. However, with our hero Brandon Roy, in Sunday's game we can’t wait to watch our fellow ex-Bulldog cram some FANtastic™ action down the East’s face. However, we’ll be in Vancouver--sorry TNT. Local Connections: Brandon Roy--Played for Garfield High School and the University of Washington. Currently for the Portland Trailblazers. Steve Nash--Native of Victoria. Then U-Dub coach Lynn Nance......

Both the P-I and TNT report that Mike Holmgren will return as coach of the Seahawks. The P-I's Clare Farnsworth writes that "a source close to the situation" confirms that Holmgren will return. We say hooray! Holmgren is by far the most successful coach in team history. There are a few things we wish he'd do better, but when it comes to the big stuff--having the respect of his players, keeping his team motivated, and,......

The oddest thing about watching last night's Iowa caucus coverage along with the Sonics game is that we had one TV tuned to TNT, and one TV tuned to CNN--and Chuck Norris was on the latter one. Yes, the man who reportedly counted to infinity...twice--was standing behind Mike Huckabee with his (Norris's) ex-model wife. Huckabee's own wife, who if not model material is hardly repulsive, did not appear in your picture as Huckabee spoke about......

In a few seasons, Seattle indie stalwart Sub Pop will shed its adolescent husk and turn 20. Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman, the dudes who put Soundgarden and Nirvana in bins before major label reps stormed Seattle, will, according to this bio, celebrate "as conspicuously as they can manage." As well they should. They were the fuse to said bands’ (and others’) genre-birthing TNT, after all. And though maybe not as globally revered since the......

Next Tuesday at Neumo's, the elder statesmen of post-rock make a stop in Seattle. Formed in Chicago in 1990, Tortoise are by no means new on the scene, but their instrumentals, equal parts jazz and prog, have always garnered them fans of experimental music and varied instrumentation, as well as folks who just like a lovely melody. Be forewarned: this also means the occasional dirty dreadlocked jam band hippie. Check out the above video......

One day in the early 90s, then-Husky basketball coach Lynn Nance said to himself, "You know, I'm pretty happy with Prentiss Perkins and Bryant Boston at guard," and declined to offer a scholarship to a young Canadian and UW fan named Steve Nash. And a damn good thing, too. Nash, as we all saw Sunday afternoon, will do anything to stay off the court in crunchtime, including spontaneous hemophilia. Gutless. Just gutless. The 92-93 Huskies......

National NBA basketball correspondent Jason McDonald shares his thoughts on the #8-seed Warriors' defeat of #1-seed Dallas TNT, Seattlest has beef with you. Why wasn’t Marv Albert fired immediately for saying, “The Golden State Warriors have pulled off the greatest upset in the history of the NBA playoffs. Seattlest knows this wasn’t the greatest upset in the history of the NBA playoffs because Seattlest was at the biggest upset in the history of NBA Playoffs.......

That's one thing we learned from The Moth Story Tour on Sunday night at Town Hall. Actually, we learned that from the brochure, which explained what local voices were going to appear in which cities. Cho in LA, Savage in SEA. The premise of The Moth is simple: storytellers get ten minutes on stage to tell a true story. No notes. The benefit, as host and first storyteller Jonathan Ames put it, is that you......

Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren today bellyached about officiating during the Seahawks' loss in the Super Bowl. Which happened two months ago. According to Mike Sando of the TNT, Holmgren said: We lost the game and it hurts. It still hurts. But to have the story of the Super Bowl be the officials, that's crazy. I mean, that absolutely should never happen. An article by the AP reveals that Commissioner Tagliabue's staff wanted to fine Holmgren......

With a surprisingly easy 101-89 win last night over San Antonio, the Sonics tied the Western Conference semifinals at 2-2. Coach Nate McMillan started three guards, and the strategy worked. Not only did the three (Ray Allen, Antonio Daniels and Luke Ridnour) combine for 71 points, but their speed on defense forced 20 Spurs turnovers. Game 5 will be in San Antonio on Tuesday night at 6:30 PDT. The game will be televised on......
