Central Cinema, over at 21st and Union, is showing the Super Bowl on its big screen. This Sunday, 3pm. The biggest football you've ever seen. We've checked the Big Picture's website, and it looks like Central Cinema has this idea all to itself. They've done this the last few years, and we haven't gone yet, even though it's free -- the pizza and beer (menu pdf) aren't, but then, the pizza and beer never are.......

Saturday, Tera will give herself a VIP tour at the opening of Aritzia. She will follow this potentially hectic event by introducing a friend to her newest wine obsession - Twisted Cork. Sunday she will trek to Qwest and root for Chicago, uh, eh, oops...Seattle. Yes, root for the Seahawks. Jack's heading to the Showbox proper tonight to see Canadian indie pop band Stars. Sunday, he's hoping to see Rex Grossman slip into old......

For a guy who's nearly tone deaf, Eddie Argos has done pretty well for himself in the world of rock music. When his band Art Brut broke a couple years ago, their sound--spoken-word lyrics over choppy punk rhythms and AC/DC-inspired riffs--stood out in the London indie scene, amongst Britpop redux bands like Babyshambles and Bloc Party. Their debut album, Bang, Bang, Rock & Roll was a Pitchfork and KEXP fave, and the first time......

This Sunday evening, the Seattle Phonographers Union will be holding a sonic performance at Magnuson Park. Phonographers?!? The hell you say? Rest, assured; we misspeelled neither photographers nor pornographers --although, for the record, we support many of those engaged these activities. We like the term phonography, first, because it sounds nicely antiquated and, given that we are currently embroiled in The Digital Future, somewhat analog what with its allusion to the phonograph. Now we're......

January 15: Ever reminisce about that time in your life when when your friends were just a few steps away (dormitory, first apartment)? This Sunday take a tour of The Reserve Cottages (20215 15th Ave NW, Cottage D) in Shoreline and view an unusual yet growing trend in residential development: the cottage layout. The homes, each under 1,000 square feet, are situated among native landscapes and include both private yards and shared common spaces to......

Mention Renton to any of your city-dwelling friends, and "environmental preservation" probably won't be the first words out of their mouth. Seattlest was also quite surprised to learn that Renton is home to one of the last intact peat bogs in King County. The very word "bog" might be more than you care to know, but bogs turn out to be very handy things for our rain-prone region. According to the state Department of Ecology,......

If your Sunday agenda included nothing but complaining about how The Simpsons is past its prime or wondering how Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria was snubbed for yet another award, it's time for a change of plans. This Sunday night, and every Sunday from now on, you should take yourself a quick nap and head out to Rebar for Flammable, Seattle's longest running house music night. The rules are simple: leave your attitude at the door......
