Aw, thanks, Redhook. We really appreciate the sentiment. Now, if you could help the Seahawks or the Huskies start winning, we'd be even more grateful. Don't forget to add your lovely sentiments and photos to the Seattlest Flickr Pool.

Strong defense and Justin Dentmon stepping up late in the second half gave the Huskies their fourth straight win against the Bruins in Hec-Ed, and Seattlest its second great sports moment of 2008.
When we lived in LA we had no problem watching the Huskies play at Pauley Pavilion. We could just get in our car, hop on the 10, and presto, eight hours later we were in the building.
We haven't read a ton of military history, but we've read enough to know that the most grievous mistakes by battle commanders aren't those that lead to defeat, but those that are made in the wake of victory. The biggest mistakes are by commanders who, having driven their opposition into full retreat, fail to press the advantage, chase the retreaters down, and destroy them. To cite just one example, had Confederate General P.G.T Beauregard ordered...
By now, we've learned not to doubt Husky basketball coach Lorenzo Romar. But every once in a while, some small neuron of unease activates inside our brain, like tonight, against Long Beach State, when Romar had his team playing zone defense for most of the second half while the 49ers got closer and closer and closer. It wasn't so much that LBS was scoring in bunches against the zone, but rather that when the Huskies...
There is no prettier place in America to watch a sporting event than Husky Stadium. Boats dot Lake Washington off the east end zone, the foothills are beyond, and, off in the gloaming, the Cascades. And there's the Husky band too, who last week did a James Brown tribute. Seriously, even if you aren't into sports, you should check it out.
Last month the Husky basketball team went to Greece together. They played some local teams but, also, since they are students too, got some in-depth instruction on Greek history from Dr. James Clauss of the UW Classics department. Dr. Clauss is also head of the UW Honors program, and a winner of the UW's Distinguished Teaching award.
Overheard walking away from Husky Stadium: "That Trenton Tuiasosopo...I wonder if he's related to Marques Tuiasosopo?"
While you're enjoying an unseasonably sunny summer afternoon, we will be at Safeco Field, showing our undying support for the 2007 Seattle Mariners, authors of one of the greatest collapses in baseball history.
The Huskies released their spring depth chart today, and oh-so-highly touted quarterback Jake Locker is listed as the #1 QB. Locker is expected by the type of Husky fan who spends a lot of time on message boards to lead the program back to excellence. He's 6-2, 210, and fast. Scout.com calls him "a bigger Marques Tuiasosopo with a stronger arm."
There are going to be some angry PR people in sports media land. The Storm have one big off-season story, who they will draft. That draft is today. But the Huskies completely stole their thunder by announcing picking their new women's coach. Weird...anyway, here's the scoop, courtesy of the Times.
The Huskies weren't among the 64 teams picked for the NCAA tournament, then neither were they among the 32 teams picked for the NIT. Down here at Seattlest HQ, stunned silence. After the first two regions were revealed, we sort of joked, "Uh-oh, looks like we didn't make it!" And then, when the final bracket was shown, well, wow...we really didn't make it!
Yesterday we wrote that the Huskies would beat #10 Wazzu, and we were wrong. Don't be that surprised, it happens a lot.
Stanford coach Trent Johnson, not happy after Kenny Brown committed the ultimate bailout foul, hacking the Dawgs' Adrian Oliver as Oliver shot a desperation three with the shot clock at 1. Oliver hit all three free throws, giving Washington an eleven-point lead. The Huskies won 64-52 [Times], [P-I], [San Francisco Chronicle]
Last night the Huskies beat, barely, a crappy Cal team in a game that they should've won by 20. Once again, turnovers-a-plenty (16) held the Dawgs back.
'Member when we made a funny ha-ha joke about thieves breaking into staged homes for sale? Well--irony of ironies--a thief did same to a friend's house last night, so we had to Tivo Saturday morning's Husky game while we spent the day repairing a broken door frame.
--Someone fired a gun six blocks from Gov. Gregoire today in Tacoma. There are also reports of gunshots in downtown Seattle today and Seattlest is 90% sure we saw Gregoire in Seattle at 5th and Virginia at noon. 90%. We thought about introducing ourselves or ripping off a few rounds to mark the occasion, but didn't.
We have had our issues with Ryan Appleby this season. The curly haired guard can seemingly do one thing on the court, hit three pointers. This season he has been struggling to do that, making him essentially useless.
So. The Huskies. The team that's our city's best chance at a 2007 championship trophy, and they can't even beat the Cougs. Historical fact: No team has ever lost to Washington State University and gone on to win the championship of anything.
Sometimes you earn a win, and sometimes the other team gives you one. Here are the all-time screw-ups by opponents that helped Seattle teams win big games.
10. Mariners vs Yankees (August 22): The Yankees kept taking the lead and the Mariners kept coming back. In the ninth, with the score tied 5-5, A-Rod came up with a clutch bases loaded strike out. Later that inning Adrian Beltre won the game on a walk off home run.
Since day one we've said that being a Seattle sports fan is like sneaking up behind Kicky the Paranoid Mule. The past week has reminded us of this all too well.
--The Huskies' football recruiting class is ranked among the nation's top 25. But how can we put stock in rankings when Gonzaga beats Washington by 20 and gets ranked two places behind them.
The Hec Ed PA announcer actually said that, before an unexpectedly entertaining Northern Iowa/Nicholls St. clash to kick off the Basketball Travelers round robin.
On the last day of September, the Huskies beat Arizona for their third consecutive victory, and the Seahawks were in Chicago, feeling pretty good about inaugurating October against the Bears. Sure, Shaun Alexander was out, but their potent four-receiver attack had rolled over the Giants.
Before we are forced to re-live 1947 and gather around the radio for Saturday night's Husky game, we thought it would fun to take one last look at last Saturday’s incredible win over UCLA. We were at the game yelling our head off durring the second half. Our friend wasn't, but sent us his thoughts throughout the game via text message.
--We were feeling like sort of a dork for spending our Friday night at the Garfield/Franklin football game, but less so when current NY Knick Nate Robinson sat down about fifteen feet from us. Robinson's brother Jacque is a senior running back for the Bulldogs. Older brother was there with a few friends. For the most part, people left him alone. We snapped a few clandestine photos of us with the Great in the background.
In a piece last month, we called Fresno State, a team that lost to Nevada, Tulsa, and Louisana Tech last year, "not that good." Soon, the comment box was teeming with the indignation of uppity Fresno State fans, broadcasting their inferiority complexes widely by calling our piece "stupid ass" and "illogical."
San Jose St has fast receivers and backs, and a veteran offensive line. They should be able to score against the Huskies.
UConn, who the UW Huskies will face tonight in an NCAA regional semifinal, is the best college basketball team in the country. According to nbadraft.net, five UConn players will be drafted in the first round of June's NBA draft--including the projected #1 pick, forward Rudy Gay.
