Seattlest photographer Zach Luellen's mom, Cheryl, continues her review of the area's other gigantic music festival, the DMB Caravan.

Gallery and Review: Dave Matthews Band Caravan, Day 1
Seattlest's music team had their hands full with Bumbershoot last year, so we brought in a pinch-hitter to cover the weekend's other mammoth musical event-- the Dave Matthews Band Caravan. This post and these photos come to you courtesy of Dave fan and master photographer Cheryl Luellen, who is not only a most excellent guest writer--she's also writer Zach's mother. Because, you know, we like to keep it in the family.
Sasquatch Gallery: Sneak Peek Day 4
Whew! We made it home in one piece though sunburned, tired, sore, minus one water bottle and maybe a little hungry. Lily and Morgen were unbelievably happy to be there every second evidenced throughout the next week or two in galleries, a mini photo shoot, reviews and interviews. If you were there relive it with us and tell us your story. We're excited to hear how your fest went, it was sort of a blur for us despite the fact we kept sober the entire time (we swear!).
Seattlest Roundtable: Hypothetical Sasquatch Edition
None of us are going to Sasquatch this year. That's right, all of Seattlest--all of this MANY-HEADED CERBERUS--is far too lame to be heading out to the Gorge for what looks to be a beautiful Memorial Day weekend. Instead, we're staying home, putting a few ice cubes in our scotch, and breaking out the summer tweed. But were we attending the three-day fest this year, we'd have plenty of good acts to choose from. We perused the schedule to come up with our hypothetical recommendations for this very real festival.
The Shins to Wince Two Nights Away at the Showbox
Just announced: The Shins are set to play two shows at the Showbox on Monday, May 4 at 9:00 p.m. (all ages) and Tuesday, May 5 at 9:00 p.m. (21+) . Tickets are $34.99 (yowza), not including those delightful Ticketmaster fees. Also on sale via Ticketmaster/Live Nation this Friday/Saturday: Death Cab/New Pornographers/Ra Ra Riot at Marymoor Park July 18, Ben Folds at the Paramount May 14, and Phish at the Gorge for two nights (*shudder*) August 7 and 8.
Welcome to Our Personal Hellscape
Tickets to three days of Dave Matthews Band at the Gorge over Labor Day weekend go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. Don't know about you, but we can think of nothing worse (non-Burning Man-related) than spending three days camping at the Gorge with Dave Matthews' douchetard fanbase. (Brief aside: What's worse, DMB itself or DMB fans?) Ok, it would be worse if John Mayer and Jason Mraz were opening, but instead it's slightly better with openers G. Love & Special Sauce and Yonder Mountain String Band. Tickets for Friday, September 4th through Sunday, September 6th are $48.50 and $70.00 (plus all those service charges and fees) and go on sale Friday, March 13th via LiveNation and Ticketmaster.
Sasquatch 2009 Lineup Announced
The official lineup for this year's Sasquatch (May 23-25) was announced today, and it's a doozy. The big names: Jane's Addiction (as the requisite reunion band), Kings of Leon, Nine Inch Nails (who will soon be taking a sabbatical), Ben Harper (yes, again), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Erykah Badu, The Decemberists, Fleet Foxes (natch), TV On The Radio (who will assuredly be much better at Sasquatch than their SNL appearance), Animal Collective, Santogold, Of Montreal, Explosions In The Sky, M. Ward, The Avett Brothers, Doves, Grizzly Bear, M83, and Girl Talk.
Weekend Music
Tonight, everybody's favorite local chanteuse Jesse Sykes plays a free KEXP show at Seattle Center's Mural Ampitheater, featuring music from her new EP Gentleness of Nothing. (Tomorrow night, Rocky Votolato plays the Mural.)
Memorial Day Mountain Traffic
So much for feeling all wonderful and relaxed after getting out of the city and off the computer for the three-day weekend. This is what greeted Seattlest at the 93 mile marker when we left The Gorge early "to miss concert traffic:"
Heads Up: Three-Day Music Festival in Pemberton, BC
This year if Sasquatch just ain't your thing, there's an upcoming brand-new music festival hosted by our neighbors to the north. Yes indeedy, this summer marks the first-ever Pemberton Festival, to be held July 25-27 in Pemberton, British Columbia. Considering it's their first year, this little baby music fest has rounded up some big names, including Coldplay, Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Jay-Z, Interpol, Death Cab, Flaming Lips, and Vampire Weekend. There'll be two stages and a dance tent to house the 50+ bands playing the fest over all three days. Here's the confirmed line-up so far:
Heads Up: Sasquatch Lineup By Day
Right on the heels of the announcement that the Mars Volta was added to the Sasquatch lineup, and right before tickets go on sale this Saturday, the three-day music festival has seen fit to delineate who will be playing on which day:
