The Mojo and the Sayso which opened at ACT last night is four actors and a car, but the car is the thing, the main entity. The car is the set, the stage, and the focal character. It may not have any lines, but it stands in for everything that moves playwright Aisha Rahman's story forward. It's the absent child, gunned down by aggro off-duty cops, it's the broken family, being rebuilt from the ground up with parts scavenged from here or there, it's the hard facts of terrestrial life in the face of the easy fixes of shyster spirituality. Jennifer Zeyl designed the set. She's a genius, we hear.

Seattlest Trivia Wrapup: No Cougars After All!
There were, however, 3:10 to Yuma t-shirts, which we gave away in addition to the regular pile of swag. (That was Jack Daniels-themed this week. Congrats, Greendoggs.)
Live at KEXP Volume Three
Rob Gordon once said, "The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don't wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules."
Weekend Music
Last week's high-profile, faux low-profile United States of Electronica show at the Comet should convince you to check them out at the Firehouse in Ballard Old Fire House in Redmond this weekend. Maybe this was supposed to be a Lashes show but now is an ersatz Lashes benefit due to Eric Howk's injury.
Sasquatch Line Up Results in Creamed Panties
Last year's Sasquatch line up was good, but not good enough to get us to spend three days at the Gorge. We still prefer the festival in its one-day, all-in-one-fell-swoop form, but with the lineup that's been announced for this year's two-day fest, we may just have to make the trip. Out of the two days, it was Saturday that really made us coo. Bjork *and* Arcade Fire? Consider us sold. There are still bands to be announced, but here's how things stand as of right now:
Aural Pleasures (9/6 - 9/12)
Yeah, we know you just spent all weekend at Bumbershoot. Is the wee little baby tired? Can't handle any more music? Ah, look at that poodum...
Aural Pleasures
After kicking our collective asses for four consecutive days, the heat is finally backing down. So pull yourself together. Go outside again -- especially to Capitol Hill this weekend.
Kitty!
Only a couple minutes into Duma, the latest film from Carroll Ballard, king of mature-minded animal flicks (The Black Stallion, Fly Away Home), one thing becomes abundantly clear: Baby cheetahs are really, really f-ing cute. Their fur is all mottled and super fluffy. Rather than meowing, they make a little bird-like peep. We totally want one.
Black Panther Reunion
The Seattle Black Panther Party will hold a reunion this weekend, including films, music, speeches, and a Q&A with Bobby Seale.
