Seattlest Volunteer Spotlight: Team In Training

Each week Seattlest highlights an individual whose philanthropic efforts are helping to make our fair city a better place. From environmental causes to the health and wellness of Seattleites and animals we recognize that every contribution helps. We’ll also feature information as to how you can get involved. This week, Seattlest looks at Team In Training. Today, we recognize Dean H. Saxe as he is currently preparing for his fourth Team In Training (TNT) event. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society created Team In Training to help raise blood cancer awareness. Volunteers across the country collect donations as they train to take part in a variety of outdoor adventures including hiking, biking and running. Saxe’s first involvement with TNT was in 2005 when he and his wife hiked the Grand Canyon. The Atlanta native’s next TNT event will be the Rock 'N' Roll Seattle Marathon. Having relocated to Seattle four months ago, he felt this would be an excellent way to meet like-minded individuals while exploring his new city. He is almost half-way towards his fundraising goal of $4,000. The proceeds will benefit research and patient services for those affected by blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. more ›
