Outdoor cinema that's sure to make you cry, indoor cinema that's a little less weepy (and a little more bad-ass), and yes, a little musical theater. What an inspired evening you'll have tonight!

We Owe It All to Agatha Christie: Something's Afoot at Taproot
Taproot Theatre's 35th anniversary season has reaffirmed their identity in the Seattle theatre community. With The Beams Are Creaking and Brownie Points they continued their interest in social and moral issues. With The Odyssey they reaffirmed their belief in the power of story to cross cultures and time and touch upon the universally human. And now, with Something's Afoot, they have reminded the community that they can be fundamentally silly.

HOLMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS: Taproot Theatre intended to premiere Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Carol last year, but when an arsonist's fire shut down the theatre for months, it was forced to cancel the Holmes world debut and instead staged It's a Wonder Life: A Live Radio Play at North Seattle Community College. Now that Taproot has returned to its full glory, Sherlock Holmes and the Christmas Carol finally meets its stage. In this presentation, Holmes has gone the way of old Scrooge. Hardened toward the Christmas Spirit, he is visited by three Christmas Eve callers that provide him clues from his past, present, and future.
Man of La Mancha at Taproot Theatre
Cervantes, Man of La Mancha, poet, dreamer of impossible dreams, can do one thing when thrown in jail and faced with possible execution by the Spanish Inquisition - create a musical play. Fortunately, his cellmates turn from surly to willing and quickly play along, and they know all of the words. And fortunately for us, this entertaining play (within a play) is staged by a company that knows a thing or two about small stages and the role of audience imagination - Taproot Theatre.

SO WONDERFUL: Taproot Theatre Company is putting on It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play tonight at North Seattle Community College. It's a Wonderful Life was first originally broadcasted on the radio in 1947, though most of us have only had the pleasure of watching it on VHS. If you're in need of some warm and fuzzy goodness and a little extra holiday cheer, here is the event for you. Great for the family, and for those who want to see a live version of this all-time holiday classic.
