Renton Car Plows a New Drive-Thru for Restaurant

In Renton late last night, a speeding SUV took the turn at Sunset Blvd. N too quickly, the driver losing control of the vehicle as it raced through a few lanes of traffic, shrubbery and then brilliantly crashed into the side of Burger King. The two uninjured fast food employees were working in the kitchen--but certainly not having it their way--as the SUV missed them and struck the storage area. The three people inside the SUV suffered injuries and were taken to Harborview Medical Center. Police think drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

New Tracker Snitches On Teen's Bad Driving

Parents have been blessed with the ultimate revenge technology to help create safe(r) teenage drivers. For teens, saying they are going to a "friend's" house won't cut it anymore. This fancy GPS and monitoring system provides parents a real-time play-by-play of their teens every move and location. Plus, they can also get an e-mail, post-joy ride, revealing a tendency to slam on the brakes or the speeds of a lead footed teenager. Man, we are sooo glad we are not teenagers anymore. Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures

On Monday night, traffic cops pulled over a Volkswagen R32 for doing 110mph on I-90 by the floating bridge. What could possibly have befuddled this driver's brain enough to make him think he was on the autobahn? There's only one answer compelling enough to explain it, and it's the answer the driver gave the officer: he was racing home to place a bid on eBay. In this broken world, good explanations are not always good excuses--the driver spent that night in jail. We shed a tear for his lost auction, and really hope he can quickly find another used plastic widget for his arcade cabinet restoration project (or what have you). more ›

Watch Your Speed On I-5

Thirty-seven Washington State troopers on motorcycles will be scrutinizing the behavior of drivers on I-5 today and tomorrow in what the P-I reports is a two-day push against dangerous freeway speed and aggression. That means if you're on I-5 in the next couple of days, 84% of the state's motorcycle troopers will be dedicating their full resources towards disciplining bad behavior on the road. It's all too easy to cruise way over 60mph during non-peak traffic hours, so be careful out there or you might find yourself with a ticket. (Put down those cell phones, too....) more ›

Fastest Speeder Ever Caught on I-5

Fastest Speeder Ever Caught on I-5

A motorcyclist was arrested on Sunday outside of Eugene on charges of reckless driving. Ben Howard Kelley was clocked at going 164 mph on I-5. It is the top speed a trooper has ever verified for a speeder on I-5. Kelley was arrested wearing a helmet, one law he didn't break, but we imagine that wouldn't help much if you crashed at 164 mph. more ›

An Intentional Slow-Down on I-5

An Intentional Slow-Down on I-5

Usually, when traffic is dawdling on I-5 at 30 m.p.h., we're longing for the arterial: same speed, fewer Seattle drivers. But starting next year, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) may be intentionally slowing down drivers on I-5 in hopes that it will ease traffic. more ›
