"Fountain @ Bumbershoot 08" courtesy of Seattlest Flickr pool member sonoazure Our Sunday began with deja vu from Saturday, as Shim ended their set at the Sky Church a full twenty minutes early. We don't know about you, but if we were a little band with a big captive festival crowd, we'd take advantage of our hour-long slot by any means necessary. If we didn't have enough original content, we'd fill our set with covers......

Bumbershoot ("Party like it's Day Two!") opens at 11:00 a.m., but nothing catches our performing arts eye (music picks are after the jump) until the Nexus Project (1:00 p.m.) at Theatre Puget Sound Stage (i.e., the Center House Theatre, where Seattle Shakespeare Co. usually performs). We saw some of the collected 10-minute works when they were at Hugo House and called it a "fantastic opportunity." Antologia Polski (2:00 p.m.) brings you 50 years of Polish......

Last weekend was dead, so of course this weekend there's approximately one bajillion bands playing. We've already mentioned Kaki King, Dengue Fever, and Born Ruffians, so here's the other weekend shows of interest: Tonight, Boredoms will be at Neumo's for their first show in Seattle in thirteen years. Though Pitchfork describes them as a "beauty and noise machine," it's pretty clear that, at least live, they're heavier on the noise than the beauty. Some clips......

MUSIC: Normally, we try to avoid El Corazon at all costs, but there’s an early show there today for a very good cause. During last week’s storm, Kate Fleming, a talented voice-over artist, died while attempting to save the audio gear in her home studio. Tonight’s show—featuring Speaker Speaker, Patience Please, Megasapian, In the Empty City, and more—is in Kate’s memory, with the money benefitting her family. 4:30pm doors, 5pm show // El Corazon //......
