1,500 people gathered at Qwest Field last night to say goodbye to Ed McMichael, the Tuba Man. McMichael died November 3, after a robbery and beating on October 25. (Three of the five attackers have been found and charged.) McMichael was a Seattle icon, playing his tuba for tips outside most Seattle sporting events and music events at McCaw Hall--Pacific Northwest Ballet printed a dedication to McMichael in its "New Works" series program.

Victrola Coffee has their new roasteria location down at Pike and Terry, up from Six Arms, and they're holding public coffee cuppings on Wednesdays to let people in on a more behind-the-roaster view of their morning bean beverage. We've done this, and it's fun, but we warn you that we left thinking hummingbirds looked old and slow. While you're there, try out the new comfy chairs for us. We only had time to snap a picture.

We here at Seattlest admit to being a tad anal. Now that we have four winners of the past Search for the Best Cheeseburger, we can now move on and compare these winners against one another, with the ultimate goal of finding the one burger from which all others will be judged. (Apparently not only are we anal, but we're also huge fans of run-on sentences.)
Seattlest isn't much for restaurant reviews. However, we love knowing where to get a really good burger, or when one can get a kickin' slice.
