Day twelve is upon us and Morgen is taking a nostalgic turn. Shonen Knife has been a mainstay in Japanese pop music for twenty years and our photographer got caught up in their magic web in high school. They're just as fun and full of energy two decades later as you can see in today's photo.

Shonen Knife is another of those bands that have been a persistent whisper in the music industry since the early '80s. So many of my favorite bands from back in the day have returned to the limelight and this one got us the most excited this year.
Weekend Music
Things always die down right around the holidays, so not much is going on tonight, except local noise mavens X-Ray Press will be celebrating their CD release (and the addition of their new keyboardist) at Jules Maes in Georgetown.
Rev. Bubba Levi Greenacres, Nerd Rock Deejay
If you’re a radio fan who craves the offbeat and simply weird, there’s no better place to tune in on a Friday night than KBCS, 91.3 FM. From 11 pm until 1 am, the esteemed Reverend Bubba Levi Greenacres spins a strange audio web from a techno remix of Lawrence Welk to the Muppets to Shooby Taylor to Leonard Nimoy to Shonen Knife to the Latin Hebrew Hip-Hop of the Hip Hop Hoodios.
