Can't Miss It: The Weekend

Can't Miss It: The Weekend

This weekend, look at beautiful women for the betterment of area dogs, dress up as Santa and join a mob, check out a fantastic all-ages show, and then dance until the moon drops. And maybe, if you're lucky, get some sleep. more ›

Seattlest Suggests: Shenandoah Davis CD Release w/ Paleo Tonight

Seattlest Suggests: Shenandoah Davis CD Release w/ Paleo Tonight

The Seattle music scene is rife with musicians intermingling amongst bands as well as breaking off to perform solo as well. Shenandoah Davis is one of these incredibly talented artists taking part in several bands' shows, as a permanent fixture in Grand Hallway and a budding solo career. Everything she's involved in basically turns to aural gold. Being one of the very few talented accordion players in the city doesn't hurt her popularity either especially with the prominence of orchestral pop these days. more ›

Gallery: Columbia City Round #1, More Please!

We had been to a few rounds at Fremont Abbey, as we mentioned in the preview for the Columbia City Round, so walking in to CCT to find the chairs set up on the main floor and stage set up as usual was a little disappointing. But whatever disappointment we may have had was soon replaced with delight. more ›

A Bevy of Music and Art in Columbia City Tonight

A Bevy of Music and Art in Columbia City Tonight

Tonight will be another magical night of music at Columbia City Theater as The Round enchants Seattle art lovers yet again. The Round, which usually takes place at Fremont Abbey Arts Center, is a mixture of art and music that leaves you feeling enriched and wishing you could make an Etsy store of crafts of your own. There are Rounds now being held throughout the state as well as the country; one of which was held this last week at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin (Round #7 there) with Campfire OK and Noah Gundersen performing amongst others. This is the first Round being held at Columbia City Theater, but we're pretty sure it won't be the last. more ›

Grand Hallway Plays for a Great Cause at the Hard Rock Tonight

Grand Hallway @ Doe Bay Fest
One of our favorite local super bands, Grand Hallway, will be rocking your socks off tonight at the Hard Rock Cafe. Along with Lindsay Fuller and The Royal Bear they'll being playing to raise money for Team Up for Nonprofits. It's a new organization that uses the power of music to raise funds and awareness for various causes. In 2010, Team Up raised more than $10,000 for local nonprofits, including Bike Works, Seattle Against Slavery, and Seattle Works, through its “Gigs4Good” concert series. This is the first annual benefit to support Team Up; proceeds will help them build a successful lineup of artists to perform at "Gigs4Good" and other events in 2011. more ›

Bumbershoot: Top Ten Local Acts You've Got To See

Bumbershoot: Top Ten Local Acts You've Got To See

We thought it would be a pretty easy project to sort through the Bumbershoot bill for the top ten local acts. Holy cow, were we wrong! There is an unbelievable list of local bands that you would love. Unfortunately, that would be entirely too work for one weekend. Instead, we took on the monumental task of whittling it down to ten. Understandably, it was pretty difficult. Below are Seattlest's picks for the entire weekend if you are looking for a local music overload. They're listed in order of appearance at the festival. more ›

Stalk Of The Town

Stalk Of The Town

Kim is shooting from the hip this weekend (papow!). The only solid plan is her friend's weekly L Word watching party on Sunday. Between now and then, she'll probably go see Shenandoah Davis at 2020 Cycle with Your Heart Breaks and KHV. Maybe there'll be a delicious meal culled from our local farmers markets. Maybe she'll hop on a train and go to Portland. Anything could happen, people. Anything. more ›

A Local We're Totes Crushing On

In all fairness, we've been crushing on Shenandoah Davis for a while, so we're ashamed that we keep missing her live performances. She'll be at the Sunset tonight, and we'll be at the Triple Door watching Jolie Holland. Dammit. more ›

Can't Miss It: Thursday

Can't Miss It: Thursday

NOT BURLESQUE: Columbia City Theater is a really great room to watch singer-songwriters do their thing. Tonight, the room will host a CD release party for the exquisitely talented Shenandoah Davis, featuring special guest Molly Rose, and others. Grab a drink and kick back in the old Vaudeville theater for a night of introspective, arty songwriting. more ›
