If you're reading this, chances are you call or have called Seattle home. If that's you, it's quite likely you've lived with, are friends with or are a musician. Quite possibly you are all of those things. Even if none of these categories fits you or anyone you know, your life experience has no doubt taught you musicians can be an odd lot. And I mean that lovingly.

Catch a Solo Sea Wolf Set at the Tractor Tonight
When we last talked to Alex Brown Church while he was in town earlier this year with his band Sea Wolf he told us he was genuinely most excited about touring during the year ahead. Over half a year later, Church and fans alike will be pleased as the lead Wolf himself will be bringing Sea Wolf material out on the road, this time as a solo show.
Seattlest Catches Up with Sea Wolf
We were lucky enough to catch Sea Wolf open for Okkervil River in late 2008.
Naturally, we were thrilled to learn of the band's return (this time with long-time favorites The Album Leaf). Since we last saw them, lead Wolf Alex Brown Church has been quite busy with a new album, tour with Phoenix and song on the New Moon soundtrack under his belt.
In advance of the band’s show at Neumos this Saturday, we were album to catch up with Alex.
Weekend Music
It may not feel like summer in Seattle, but tomorrow afternoon is The End's Summer Camp II at Marymoor Park. It's a mix of the good (Nada Surf, MGMT), the bad (Flogging Molly, Pennywise), and the emo-ey (Armor for Sleep). Meanwhile, all weekend long Noise for the Needy marches on, raising money for Urban Rest Stop. Come tomorrow night, it's Matt and Kim, YACHT, and local band Feral Children at Neumo's. Here's a clip of the ferociously experimental indie Sarathan quintet.
Sea Wolf / Fleet Foxes @ Chop Suey
Last Friday we saw Sea Wolf at Chop Suey. We found this Pop Matters review of their first full-length album, but if you'd like to learn more, here's an interview by Sound on the Sound.
Stalk of the Town: October 5-7, 2007
Kim is off to see Susan Werner at the Triple Door Sunday night.
Weekend Music
Tonight there's Reverbfest, which looks cool and totally has a solid schedule of local bands, but it's all the way in Ballard, so Seattlest has opted for the equally strong line-up at Chop Suey of BOAT, Fleet Foxes, and Sea Wolf. We do so love a good cello.
Cool Customers: Sea Wolf, Tiny Vipers, Molly Rose @ the Crocodile
Last night at the Crocodile was one of those evenings you stumble on where things just keep getting better and better. We went down to see headliners Sea Wolf [MySpace] after hearing them do an in-studio bit at KEXP (not posted yet). About two songs in, the indie-folk melodies and lead singer's baritone duets with cello swept us and Shelves of Vinyl off our feet.
Weekend (Rock) Music
Atlas Clothing at the corner of Pike and Broadway has been having a lot of success with their all-ages music shows recently so they're stepping up to two nights a week. Tonight are the Young Sportsman and tomorrow is Central Services and Shorthand for Epic. If you've been to Atlas for the clothes but not the music and are wondering how it's set up, it looks something like this. Here's the Young Sportsman from last year sounding very GBV:
