7 Astounding Yet True Facts About Say Anything...

Last weekend, Seattlest revisited the other Shorewood High School for our 20-year reunion. And it's been 20 years since Lloyd Dobler and Diane Court left Lakeside High, so on our flight to Milwaukee, we got reacquainted with Cameron Crowe's Say Anything.... Seattle Has a New Jeopardy! Champ

When we passed our in-person audition for Jeopardy!, we knew one other potential contestant: Emily Thorsley. She's a regular at the Old Pequliar trivia night, and her team (formerly the Laser Rocket Arms, recently the KOMO 4 Problem Causers) has kicked our ass on many occasions. So we were unsurprised when Emily appeared on Friday's show and mopped the floor with Mark Wales, a 5-time champion. Emily's one-day cash winnings total $29,800, but we'll have to wait until later in August to see how she does in her second game, since the season 24 Tournament of Champions starts today. (And we'll cross our fingers for our own chances in season 25.) more ›

You Guys Know a Lot About Britney Spears

Seattlest Trivia draws Seattle's sharpest teams, but we're still sometimes dazzled by the breadth of your knowledge. On July 1, teams averaged over 6 points on 7 of 8 rounds (brush up on Fictional Plants), including a very strong performance (6.94 points!) on Britney Spears. In the end, Reichert Did It squeaked out a half-point victory over Steve Pool Party in My Pants (70 to 69.5), thanks in part to a misremembered Die Hard title. Other rounds: Geography, God Bless the USA, Triangulation, Movies, and an audio round on bands that sold out. Congrats to the winners, and we'll see you again August 12. more ›
