- As of 9 a.m. this morning, Sea-Tac's cell phone waiting lot has re-opened. The new lot is twice the size, with nearly 100 spaces and can be found just north of the old lot on Air Cargo Road.
- My Ballard reported that around 3 a.m. this morning, a car collided smackdab into a utility pole at Market Street near Third Avenue, leaving the 27-year-old driver trapped inside. Rescue crews were able to cut the driver free, who was then sent to Harborview with non-life threatening injuries.

- Find the closest (and cleanest) jug near you. The newly remodeled beer lovers heaven, aka Bottleworks, has tricked out their store and added five taps and growler service. Now grab your growler and run.
- The Southlake blog can't seem to figure out what the new (and mysterious) street sign spotted in SLU stands for. Clearly not for the S.L.U.T., it looks like an urban cowboy crossing. Hmmm?
Test Time for Sea-Tac's Third Runway
As MvB's previous post proved, you all are hot for Sea-Tac's third runway. After 15 years of waiting, Seattle, we don't blame you for the eager anticipation. So we're pleased to report that we're inching a step (or more aptly, a take-off and landing) closer to the third runway being fully functional. A 737 will test the runway today as part of an FAA certification process. The plane will do several touch-and-go landings on the new runway. And, if the previous 15 years are any indication, we only have 4 or 5 more years until the runway is ready for its grand debut.
Sea-Tac: A Bigger Traffic CF Than Usual
There are fewer worse feelings in the world than missing a flight thanks to a traffic jam on the way to the airport. Believe us, we've been there...on Thanksgiving weekend. Missing a flight due to a traffic jam you could avoid or plan for? We simply won't allow that for our dear readers. So if any of you are heading to Sea-Tac, prepare for an even larger traffic clusterfuck than usual. Due to light rail construction, there will be only one lane to the arrivals area, the northern entrance to the parking garage will be closed, and there is a detour from the cell phone waiting lot. So basically, whether you are coming, going, or just picking someone up, schedule a little extra time for your trip to Sea-Tac.
Volcano Forces Alaska Airlines to Cancel Flights
Alaska Airlines has been forced to cancel all flights in and out of Anchorage, Alaska due to volcanic activity. Passengers waiting at Sea-Tac on Sunday were allegedly told by Alaska Airline staff that the entire state was "unflyable" due to a plume of volcanic ash. All 11 flights to Anchorage from Sea-Tac on Monday have been canceled.
About That Increased Airport Security...
Seattlest, like most folks, can't even get on a plane with the supposedly approved 3oz clear bottles of liquid. But Greg Alderete, a plain-clothed retired lieutenant colonel, was able to drive on to a Sea-Tac runway unnoticed and unchecked. How does that make any sense at all?!?
Alaska Airlines' Trying Spring Continues
Alaska's struggles continued today, when a plane had to be evacuated due to smoke in the cockpit. This also resulted in the day's unintentionally funny headline (courtesy of the Seattle P-I): "Alaska Airlines 737 evacuated on landing." While "evacuated" wouldn't be the verb you'd usually use, getting off the plane after it lands is pretty much standard operating procedure.
JetBlue Bringing California Sunshine to Seattle
The trendy boutique airlines are into Seattle, and we are loving it. (Sorry Alaska Airlines!) We reported back to you about a luxurious flight down to San Francisco courtesy of the new Virgin America Airlines. With today's news, we hope to be writing you a first-hand report of a JetBlue flight soon. Starting this May, JetBlue will begin non-stop service from Seattle to San Diego, Los Angeles, and Long Beach, Calif.
