After an absence of several months, the beleaguered Seattle theater company, the Intiman, shows signs of life with the announcement of a 2012 Summer Theater festival. Seattlest takes a look at the announced productions and reflects on what they bring to the table.

Can't Miss It: Wednesday
WATCH THE TOUR DE FRANCE: The Cascade Bicycle Club presents its annual Cyclefest. There's something for everyone--races for those who like to watch, a bike decorating station for those who like to do, and a lot of people in spandex for those who like to drool. After the sun goes down, watch the 17th stage of the Tour de France (that's the part where they race up the Alps. The Alps!) on a big screen. Wheel-less and feeling lucky? Enter the raffle for a bike worth $4,000.
For Your Consideration: This Week at SIFF
· Today's films of note include The Children of Huang Shi (which, okay, you can skip because it's opening in Seattle soon anyway), the locally produced and likely tedious My Effortless Brilliance, and Dust, a documentary about dust. Because this is a German film, a simple thing like dust becomes a metaphor for life and death. But it all wraps up in 90 minutes, and when are you likely--be honest--to go see a film about dust again? That's right, never. Also, everyone loves Mermaid, the slightly too-long fable about life in the New Russia.
Seattlest Night at SIFF Cinema Saturday: West Side Story
Who doesn't love West Side Story? Communists? Nihilists? Secret Muslims? With Stephen Sondheim's lyrics, Leonard Bernstein's score, and Jerome Robbins' fabulous choreography, the end result is one of the greatest musicals ever brought to big screen. A new 35mm print of West Side Story is showing this Saturday at SIFF Cinema as part of their United Artists 90th Anniversary film series.
