Stalk Of The Town

Kim might go to some shows at the Triple Door this weekend: Robyn Hitchcock on Saturday and Eleni Mandell on Sunday. Or she might go see Lushy on Saturday at the Skylark. Or she might just take some very long bike rides and spend the evenings recouping. Tomorrow and the next day are anyone's guess. Tonight, however, she'll be playing her own music for free at Trabant in the U-District, and yall should come.

As you may recall, we love Mickey Rourke. Love love LOVE Mickey Rourke. We love that he's crazy (but completely self-aware in his craziness), love that he has a soft spot for his many dogs (RIP Loki), love that he cries in nearly every interview. So of course we were crestfallen when Sean Penn won the Best Actor Oscar last night. Sure, Sean gave a humble yet political speech (extra points for hands shaking), and we're sure our precious David was happy, but everyone at the Kodak Theatre would've lost their shit had Mickey won.

A post in Tuesday's DCist mentioned a campaign in the other Washington to adopt a bland song named "Come to Washington" as an official "city anthem." Then, in a follow-up post, DCist nominated nine other, better songs. Readers voted for their favorites and suggested a few more. The current fave seems to be the Magnetic Fields' awesomely evocative "Washington, D.C."

By the time you read this, we'll be 40,000 feet in the air, having taken off from SeaTac at the crack of friggin' dawn. Which, of course, started us thinking about SeaTac...as dear Robyn Hitchcock sings: "They've got the best computers and coffee and smack...viva Seattle viva SeaTac!"
