We're stumped by those weight-activated turn arrows at intersections. When you're on a bike, what do you do? If you're at the head of the line, you don't have a car in front to trigger it and you're there forever. (And sometimes drivers politely avoid crowding you, and don't trigger the plate behind you.) We're baffled. Sometimes we bike through the crosswalk instead. Sometimes we just turn a street early to avoid the light. Is......

Hot issues don't really die, ever, they just retreat underground and cool for a while before popping up in new places. Increased regulation of strip clubs was put down by voters recently by a pretty strong majority, but according to this email we just received the City Council is reintroducing some of the restrictions of the placement of new clubs in the form of a zoning ordinance. Today at 5:30 at City Hall there's a......

Tuesday night, Seattlest decided to ratchet up the difficulty level on the quiz at the Old Pequilar. And we think that worked well. Act Theatre's latest offering, Miss Witherspoon by Christopher Durang, is the perfect balance to their previous effort, The Pillowman. Both plays feature crucifixion talk and an impending sense of doom, but Witherspoon contains an unlikely amount of hope to counterbalance Pillowman's bleak outlook. This hope is quite out of character for playwright Durang, but the play's first act regurgitates many of his misanthropic tendencies and then easily segues into said hopefulness. It makes sense, though.......

LAist tracks an award-winning TV writer who worked on Good Times to a homeless shelter and sees a Little Old Lady get a jaywalking ticket because she can't get across fast enough (in the same post!). Poets invade Metro and an LAist contributor's new book asks WWJB. Gothamist gets down with the immigration rally and their readers want to be heard. The anniversary of the Mets' 1986 World Series is celebrated via a RBI Baseball......

Earlier this week, Seattlest found ourselves taking part in an activity we hadn't done in a while: sorting through the wares of thrift stores on The Ave. Lately, we've been kinda feening for some end-of-summer sunglasses and shoes (always shoes), so we focused our efforts in those areas. Here's a quick review of our experiences at two local thrift faves--- Red Light 4560 University Way NE 206-545-4044 Sunglasses: We try on a bunch of......
