While Seattlest's Katelyn has a healthy obsession for the perfect sandwich, we have similar devotion to finding the most delicious fall soup. In fact, the one saving grace of the imminent fall and rainy days is that it is soup weather. When it starts to rain in Seattle, our thoughts turn to soups of all kinds--pho, creamy butternut squash, Cafe Presse's soup of the moment, anything and everything on Hopvine's soup list, and the old delicious standard: a bowl of tomato soup and grilled cheese. We can't wait for October, when the already-mentioned beloved nectar that is Hopvine's home-made soups becomes available in the Southwest Pumpkin variety...a soup which we may be guilty of having dreamt of.

Yes, we're Folklife enthusiasts. Where else can you get a funnel cake, a hip-hop spitfest, a latin dance party, and a contest for liars, all in one place? We quoted Prince in the headline because we wouldn't be surprised if he showed up at Folklife this year. There is so much shit going on this weekend, and you don't have to drive all the way to the silly Gorge and pay through your nose to enjoy the music, yall.

Seattlest had avoided reading our favorite national papers over the past few days because we feared what stupid conclusions they might reach about Saturday's shootings, especially since the stupidity was so present from the beginning with our own damn local papers. However, the New York Times, of all places, instead recently printed a short article wondering what we're going to do with our homeless Wonder Bread sign, now that the property is slated for Nickel's-style urban assault development.
