It's not shoot-'em-up Friday, but still one man is dead and another on the run after an early morning shooting in the Rainer Valley area. Seattle police officers responded to multiple 911 calls Thursday morning around 3 a.m., reporting a disturbance between two men that ended with 4 to 6 gunshots fired in the area of Rainier Avenue South and South Byron Street. The victim, a 31-year-old male, was rushed to Harborview, where he later died of his gunshot wounds. Police are on the hunt for the shooting suspect, who is still at large and believed to have driven off in a pick-up truck.

• First we thought it was just Capitol Hill's little old men that were accident-prone. Now we hear about another elderly 81-year-old man who is suffering life-threatening injuries after being hit by a delivery truck this morning in the International District.
• Yesterday, U.S. Soccer announced Seattle's Qwest Field and Husky Stadium as the venues under consideration as part of their bid to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022.

Are we beginning to see gang violence rise again within Rainer Valley? Seattle Police Department's gang unit was brought in to investigate the drive-by shooting--injuring one man--that occurred last night around 10:30 p.m. on the 7400 block of Rainier Avenue South. With the help of witnesses, the officers found the identified car, recovered a gun and took five people in the shooting into custody (go SPD!).
