Cookie Maker's Minis Make It to the Rachael Ray Show

While we're still rejoicing that two area chefs will be competing on Top Chef starting next month, how about a little instant gratification? We've got a top pastry chef, of sorts. Mei-I Funtanilla, former pastry chef at Serafina, is not a big fan of the big cookie, so she developed her own line and called them Sweet Miniatures. And today, these tiny cookies have found their way to the Rachael Ray Show. (In Seattle, tune to KIRO-7 at 3 p.m.)

So you thought it was going to be a lot of work, all this holiday cooking? We know, just thinking about it can be exhausting. The spirit of fussy Martha Stewart dueling with the ghost of drop-the-turkey-on-the-floor Julia Child? Top Chef duking it out with Iron Chef? Paula Dean versus Rachael Ray? It's enough to make you send for Chinese takeout.

Earlier this week, we reported on Anthony Bourdain’s presentation at the Moore last Saturday, which included his regular railing of Rachael Ray. The mistress of 30 Minute Meals seems a bit impatient, which is why she’s shortened the three-second "extra virgin olive oil" down to EVOO. Mmm…EVOO…TIGS (That Is Good STUFF).

Saturday night at the Moore: outside, long lines waited, people begged for tickets, while inside electricity was in the air, the crowd buzzed about what Anthony Bourdain might say. When he finally took the stage, it was a rock star reception—wild applause disrupted the start of his delivery for several minutes.

Tuesday night, still-rising-from-kitchen-roots icon Rachael Ray was whisked into the University Bookstore to smile her sorta-loony smile, say catchy, vaguely strange stuff (Yum-o!), and sign a bare minimum of 300 books for an endless stream of star-struck fans.

Seattlest's favorite cooking show doesn't star Rachael Ray or Iron Chef Morimoto. No, we're partial to America's Test Kitchen, the public television sibling of our favorite cooking magazine, Cook's Illustrated.
