Geeks Who Drink hosts pub quiz nights in Texas, New Mexico, and Kansas Colorado--and they're expanding to Seattle on March 11. But you know what they need to make a quiz night work? A host. As head geek John Dicker wrote us in an email: "We provide all the questions, the quizmaster just needs to host and blog about it. It's a paid weekly gig." If you're interested, apply online. Let us know how it goes and maybe we'll see you at Ozzie's for your debut.

Seattlest Trivia draws Seattle's sharpest teams, but we're still sometimes dazzled by the breadth of your knowledge. On July 1, teams averaged over 6 points on 7 of 8 rounds (brush up on Fictional Plants), including a very strong performance (6.94 points!) on Britney Spears. In the end, Reichert Did It squeaked out a half-point victory over Steve Pool Party in My Pants (70 to 69.5), thanks in part to a misremembered Die Hard title. Other rounds: Geography, God Bless the USA, Triangulation, Movies, and an audio round on bands that sold out. Congrats to the winners, and we'll see you again August 12.
Seattlest has heard good things about the All-Star Pop Culture quiz at Jillian's ever since it started up. We still haven't had a chance to check it out—Tuesday's our regular trivia night, even when we're not hosting. But since the spring season kicks off tonight, we did the next best thing: interviewed Trevor Trifiro, the brains behind the quiz.
Clinton is up by a smidge in Texas, it's neck and neck in Ohio, and Rush Limbaugh fans are going big for Hillary.
The quick answer: there is still Seattlest Trivia at the Old Pequliar. But now it only comes around every five weeks or so.
Blame NAMBLA. Not that NAMBLA. Or even the North American Marlon Brando Look Alikes. Nope, blame Seattlest trivia regulars NAMBLA, who always come up with the most twisted (and often the funniest) team name of the night. Fast Times at NAMBLA Elementary's fourth-place finish last week meant they got to pick the theme of a round this week. Their chosen theme: Famous Pedophiles. If you're reading this at work, you're probably too late to...
A good rule of thumb for playing trivia: When in doubt, go with your first answer. It saves arguing and cuts right through potentially endless cycles of self-doubt.
What was the big news of the last week? Crazy lady astronaut stalker, no contest -- three teams riffed on NASA's PR nightmare for their names.
25 teams! Free ashtrays for the taking! Controversy about whether or not Bangor is a "city" or just part of Bremerton! And a geeky white boy dance-off to close the evening!
"The bums will always lose!"
Unless a sudden, savage blizzard strikes in the next couple of hours -- unlikely -- Seattlest trivia will proceed as planned tonight at Ballard's Old Pequliar pub.
week.
As we promised last week, Seattlest played the quiz at Kate's Pub last night. Our team, Eclectic Boogaloo, ended up winning the pot, although it took a tiebreaker round to get there. (Sorry, Ozzy's Outcasts. Good game.)
Answers will be forthcoming this afternoon, along with final standings and any other information we feel like we can cram into a post. In the meantime, entertain yourself with the questions from last night's quiz at the Old Pequliar:
Want to flaunt your cerebellum? Head to the Old Pequliar in Ballard tonight. Seattlest's trivia night starts at 8:00 sharp, with Seattlest James hosting.
Game show contestants get tons of ass.
Tuesday night, Seattlest decided to ratchet up the difficulty level on the quiz at the Old Pequilar. And we think that worked well. We heard bitching, but it was good, brain-smacking bitching, not lynch-the-quiz-host bitching.
This has got to change: the most comprehensive information on quiz nights in this town is a four-and-a-half-year-old article from the PI. We know it's outdated--it mentions that the "team to beat" at the George & Dragon isn't Elvis, or even Spear Britney, but some team named Spiny Norman we've never heard of even though we've been playing there for three years.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days
