Seattlest Trivia Tonight at the Old Pequliar

It's the first Tuesday in May! Which means if you're a seventh son and your seventh son is born today, you've just sired a werewolf. It also means you could win a free pitcher of beer before Seattlest Trivia tonight if you can answer this question: What recent visitor to Seattle has a name that means "you are beautiful" or "you are wonderful"? Email your answer to james (at) seattlest.com. One team with the correct answer wins beer. Beyond that, it's the usual details: The quiz is at Ballard's Old Pequliar pub, it starts at 8:00 (though sign-up starts earlier, and tables run out earlier still), and it's $5 for a team of up to 5 players or $7 for a team of 6. The OP doubles the pot and teams 1-3 win cash. (Want more info? There's a Facebook group for the OP's Tuesday quiz.) One final disclaimer: Tonight's picture rounds won't be in color. Consider it an extra challenge. See you there! more ›

Were You Paying Attention in 2008?

If so, your focus on detail could pay off big tonight at Seattlest Trivia at the Old Pequliar. Tonight's quiz is an all-2008 retrospective, 80 interrogatory nails in the coffin that was last year. The top 3 teams win cash, while the last place team wins unvaluable swag and a round of applause. Fourth place at halftime wins a free pitcher of beer--as does one lucky team that can answer this question and email the answer to james at seattlest.com before 6:00: Beyoncé and Akon were the only two musical acts to do what in 2008? Stuff to know before you go: The quiz starts at 8:00, sign-up starts at 7:45. You can have 5 players on your team for $5, or 6 players for $7. (That last brain costs extra.) You Guys Know a Lot About Britney Spears

Seattlest Trivia draws Seattle's sharpest teams, but we're still sometimes dazzled by the breadth of your knowledge. On July 1, teams averaged over 6 points on 7 of 8 rounds (brush up on Fictional Plants), including a very strong performance (6.94 points!) on Britney Spears. In the end, Reichert Did It squeaked out a half-point victory over Steve Pool Party in My Pants (70 to 69.5), thanks in part to a misremembered Die Hard title. Other rounds: Geography, God Bless the USA, Triangulation, Movies, and an audio round on bands that sold out. Congrats to the winners, and we'll see you again August 12. more ›

Seattlest Trivia Tonight: Bring Your Brain, Then Wash It

Blame NAMBLA. Not that NAMBLA. Or even the North American Marlon Brando Look Alikes. Nope, blame Seattlest trivia regulars NAMBLA, who always come up with the most twisted (and often the funniest) team name of the night. Fast Times at NAMBLA Elementary's fourth-place finish last week meant they got to pick the theme of a round this week. Their chosen theme: Famous Pedophiles.
