Larry McFadden and John Rothnie, managers at the Port of Seattle, have resigned from their positions after a special investigation into the Port's activities found ten provable instances of fraud. According to the P-I's sources, Port CEO Tay Yoshitani had planned to fire the two men as part of his disciplinary response to the investigation's findings, but they chose to leave under their own will before Yoshitani could announce his intentions.

Last week federal subpoenas were flying around downtown, irking the hell out of anyone who did business with the Mic Dinsmore-era Port of Seattle and was told its practices were just "unconventional."

We haven't been banging on our Port drum lately because others are doing a bang-up job for us; in particular the Stranger's Josh "Bloodhound" Feit and the P-I's Kristen "Pitbull" Millares Bolt -- and Capt. Tobey, to be fair. In the wake of the brouhaha over The Case of the Commission-Approved Severance That Wasn't, Feit's been Slogging furiously, not so much gloating over the scandal as refusing to let the Port or the Seattle Times* -- "Commissioners need to make some apologies and get back to the people's business" -- gloss over the matter without learning from it.

Port of Seattle documents released Tuesday reveal a police chief fearful of a litigious union and overwhelmed by an e-mail scandal engulfing a third of his officers.

At Seattlest, we read the candidate endorsements so you don't have to flip that far into your paper. In our thorough research, certain themes emerged. At the P-I, they wrote endorsements as if they were late for a meeting. For Seattle City Council--return all the incumbents, they say. Statewide Initiatives? Say no to everything! Port Commission? It's time for change!
