Let Sleeping Corgis Lie by shawnmebo Sometimes we choose pics because of their topic, other times we choose them because of their artistic ambition. In this case we chose this pic for no other reason than sleeping dogs are incredibly cute, even moreso when you long for nothing more than a lazy weekend. While you're relaxing, be sure to spend some time in the always calming Seattlest Flickr Pool.......

"Day 17 - Alone in the Dark" by tonywuhl This photograph reminds us of that one scene in the movie _Fargo_, which was a lot like this except from a more overhead angle. The movie shot was all white and grey, too, because it was in the middle of winter. But no matter how grey it gets here, there's always a verdant backdrop of lush, lush green. Hang in there, Seattle, if you are prone......

"2007-10-14-29422" by SmurphyPhoto This photo from the Seattlest Flickr Pool reminded us that autumn is the perfect time to buy fresh office supplies, a new soft sweater or jacket, or a smart new pair of jeans. We've never seen the point of waiting until New Year's Eve to make positive resolutions, especially not when autumn is a time of such drastic change in nature. This fall, why not reinvent yourself as a person who has......

"Double Georgetown" by Steve Mohundro After our last business meeting, our colleagues would attest that, to us, Double GT is a double gin and tonic. Today, though, it means an equally intoxicating Georgetown. Go ahead... get us drunk on your fabulous images of our gorgeous town, with or without quinine. Thanks for sharing!......

"vintageford_120scan" by Kyle Johnson Aside from numerous, friendly, outdoor kitties, the other thing we immediately noticed upon moving into Lower East Ballard was trucks: lots and lots of older pickup trucks. Most of the beasties are rustier, denty-er, and more well-worn than this truck, but each one is just as lovely. (Appropriate, then, that this photograph was taken on 120 format film, a classy, though rougher, older technology in and of itself.) We love to......

"Always the Bridesmaid(s)" by Taylor Hain There is something profoundly sexy about a woman's bare back. Add the gorgeous contrast of these long white dresses against such a dark, angular background and, well, we simply couldn't pass this photo up for today's Seattlest Pix. Fantastic shot, Mr. Hain. Thank you for sharing it with us.......

"Morning at Alki" by Weston Hutchins Is it churlish of us to wish there were a bigger size of this photo to link to? Very well then, we'll be churlish. But grateful nonetheless. As always, many thanks to everyone who adds to our ever-delightful Flickr pool.......

"stretch," by Seattle rainscreen The caption to this shot on Flickr notes the entire fallen branch reaches across the water's expanse, holding itself no more than six inches above the water, except for one little nob at the end that barely tickles the surface. We're always amazed at the beauty and magic of nature. You can find more beautiful shots of our natural habitat today and everyday in the ever-amazing Seattlest Flickr Pool. Come take......

"Reading Time" by M.V. Jantzen Even when we were only visitors to this city, ferry-watching was one of our favorite activities. We'd go to Colman Dock and stand there forever, watching the downtown crowd knock off for the day and make their way to the boats. In this context, we never imagined too deeply into the narratives of the people we observed; rather, we were content with observing their most mundane activities. We were mesmerized,......

We haven't had the time to test out local software company Microsoft's PhotoSynth for ourselves, but have you? What do you think--is the new elaborate automatic panorama service more than or merely as useful as the Google Maps confirmation that cows prefer to stand aligned north/south? Warning: if you go to www.photosynth.com using an old-ish browser, you'll get chastised by a pop-up window. "Still using IE6 I see," is the (verbatim) message we received. Ouch!......

"do you realize?" by Chona Kassinger Seattlest was recently accused of being a hippie, so we figured this was an appropriate shot to share with you on a Sunday morning. Because, man, don't we all want peace? Spread the love, dude—come visit our Seattlest Flickr Pool.......

Shadows on Broadway I by Patricia The shadows of unseen trash cans look like giant chess pieces looming over the large sidewalk chessboard squares, all bordered by that lovely inlaid tile that runs the length of Broadway. Given the impending construction of the Sound Transit station, we wonder, and worry, about what will happen to this pretty sidewalk enhancement. Show us your clever views of town in the Seattlest Flickr pool. Thanks!......

SOPPING WET OPERA: Byron Au Yong has composed 64 mini-operas meant to be performed in water--fountains, pools, and streams--throughout the Pacific Northwest. In this weekend's installments of Kidnapping Water: Bottled Operas, musicians and vocalists will perform unique mini-operas at parks and beaches in Des Moines/Burien (Saturday) and South Seattle (Sunday). "Who publishes the sheet-music of the winds or the music of water written in river-lines?" wrote 19th century poet John Muir; maybe that someone......

Getting your body tattooed is an intense, often bloody process. Even if you have a high tolerance for pain (and there is much pain involved), the philosophical fact remains that you are announcing ownership of your own body to do with what you want: your skin, your chosen image, your hours of mild-to-moderate intentional suffering. Your tribal arm-band. At the Tattoo Expo, we saw dozens of people sitting for tattoos. They winced, they writhed, but......
