  • Our hearts and all our positive thoughts go out to Amber at the Rainier Valley Post and her neighbors. The RVP, which has been tireless about covering neighborhood crime, has had violence strike far too close to home. Amber's neighbor was stabbed to death yesterday by another neighbor, the victim's husband.
  • Capitol Hill Seattle is still playing with Google Street View (no blame, we totally are too) and CHS stumbled upon an interesting scene on 12th Avenue street view. Looks like a parking cop is giving a lecture, surely an unpleasant moment for at least one party. It's frozen now for all to see.
  • Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, West Seattle Blog is all about the next round of holidays. They have not one, but two posts about West Seattle Christmas lights, as well as a post about where in West Seattle to get your Christmas tree.

  • Yet another reason we love Seattle: a vendor was selling pasties at a Catholic School fundraiser/bazaar. We are pleased to report that Magnolia Voice has some photographic proof this actually happened and that the vendor received no ruler raps on the knuckles.
  • Pedestrian safety is near and dear to our heart and to our rebuilt knee after experiencing life on the bumper end of our own car v. pedestrian equation. So we will certainly be applying to the Mayor's Pedestrian Advisory Board, and we think you should too.
  • After all that anticipation for Zaw, Capitol Hill Seattle already has "5 Ways To Fix Zaw's Broken Pizza." Not exactly the glowing review a new business hopes to receive from the local neighborhood blog.

  • In the circle we run in, the word/topic/obsession du jour is bacon. It seems everywhere we turn, someone is lauding the delicious versatility of this once-breakfast-only meat. Proving that bacon is not just for breakfast anymore, the Food Network visited Archie McPhees last week to discuss this veritable (and in the case of some of their products, literal) meat candy.
  • The Central District News is covering the bane of our existence: cable internet service in the Central District. We were shocked when moving in to the neighborhood three years ago that only one company offered cable set-up and service in the CD...the shady one. Three years later nothing has changed, Comcast still won't serve the CD, and our internet service and cable connection is as flickering and inconsistent as ever.
  • Seattle is still the best place to have a heart attack, and as our first aid teacher often told us, the worst place to just faint. Ready for some unnecessary, rib-breaking CPR?
