We've been reading and rereading Hawks/Packers stuff all week. Here the few things we think are important about Saturday's game:

On Saturday we will be in a land where betting on sports is not only legal, they reward you with free drinks for doing so. We'll be placing some money on the Seahawks, with the understanding that if they lose we are out both happiness and money.

This fall we are combining our love of the football and our dream of learning to cook. On Sunday morning, following a trip to a local farmer's market/major supermarket chain, we will be preparing a meal from the city of the Seahawks opponent. Then at halftime we will throw our badly burned hands in the air and make hot dogs.

Is there drama in Saturday's NFC divisional playoff game between the Hawks and Packers? Well, the playoffs are always dramatic. But this game packs (ha!) even more of a theatrical punch. The storylines:

TONIGHT at Meany Hall, it's "Climate Change and the Future of Life on Earth," a two-hour multi-media presentation designed to freak your climatological shit out. It stars the world-famous paleoanthropologist, conservationist, and environmental activist: Dr. Richard Leakey. Shazam! (What? We never get to say "Shazam"!) Author of The Sixth Extinction, Dr. Leakey will talk "about our impact on the environment"...um, no, he's gonna open up a can of knowledgifying whup-ass is what.

There have been three nationally televised Seahawk home games this year, and each time our city has been hit with a wicked weather storm.

According to Seahawks Insider, Shaun Alexander says his foot doesn't hurt anymore--not after he spent a few days praying about it.

Honeymoon's over, Seahawks front office. You greedy fools.

Da idea of da game is move da ball into your opponent's end zone for a touchdown. These are worth six pointsh. After a touchdown a team has a chance to kick an extra point (dat's worth one point), or run or kick it in for two pointsh. For da most part, teamsh don't go for two pointsh unless dey are far behind in da game, like da Vikings usually are.

When he tied Priest Holmes' touchdown record, Shaun Alexander gave each member of the Seahawks offensive line a hug. Before the Packers game, he gave them each a Christmas gift--a portable digital video recorder.

Seahawks owner and Microsoft kajillionaire Paul Allen owns one 400-foot yacht and one 300-foot yacht. That's 700 feet of yacht to enjoy, so it's no surprise that Allen hasn't yet gotten around to choosing someone to run the Seahawks.
