Wow! Today's Friday the twelfth, and that leaves you all of twelve shopping days till Christmas. Which sort of sucks, since you're probably a little nervous about the state of the economy and whatnot and thinking that maybe fattening up the old savings account is a wiser move than buying a new Wii Fit. But insofar as gifts are an unavoidable fact of the holidays, we here at Seattlest thought we'd offer you some clever gift ideas for the holidays with an emphasis on both your budget and what you can do to help grease the wheels of the local economy just a bit.

Big ups to everyone who made it out to celebrate Blogsgiving last night. Cupcakes were devoured, pumpkin drinks were guzzled, hand turkeys were drawn, and normally antisocial bloggers actually mingled with one another (thanks to the aforementioned pumpkin drinks). With the help of you fine people, we raised nearly $400 for Northwest Harvest, along with a bushel and a peck of non-perishable food items. Many thanks to Grey Gallery for hosting, as well as our partners in crime, Seattle Metblogs, Capitol Hill Seattle, and Neighborlogs. Let's do it again next year!
This fall we are combining our love of the football and our dream of learning to cook by preparing a meal from the city of the Seahawks' opponent.
Hey everybody, next Monday is Blogsgiving!
MUSIC: Did you know that Frank Sinatra called George Harrison's Something "the most beautiful love song ever written"? Well he did. A bunch of local musicians [myspace] are getting together to play Harrison's songs, and if they don't have a stuffed elk head for "I've Got My Mind Set On You," they do have Alan White, who played drums on Harrison's most successful album, All Things Must Pass. The show was meant to take place on the 5-year anniversary of Harrison's death last month, but we had all that snow, so it's happening now. The whole thing is a benefit for Northwest Harvest.
Tired of sitting around with your friends looking stupid? Of course you are! So get off your ass and check these shows out…
We figure you probably gave up on dead tree media in the 90s sometime and now proudly boast to all three readers of your blog that you get all your news either online or from the smirking mouth of Jon Stewart. Us too! You're just like us, which is why we feel such loathing and contempt LOVE for you. Pick up a paper copy of The Stranger today, though. You remember where they are: In those big metal boxes on the street and shimmied under that short leg of the wobbly table at your cafe.
Seattlest knows that not everyone is having a swell time in Bush's economy. Often people have to get some help with groceries by heading to our fine city's several food banks. We here have decided to give you a bit of a reference on these food banks if you were so inclined to donate either time, money or canned goods.
The Stranger returned from its week of Ben Exworthy coverage with a story that must seem really big to them, but... Yawn.
