Some lucky ducks went to Sasquatch this weekend, and others went to Folklife. We, on the other hand, stuck very close to home: on our couch, with a painfully twisted and inflamed ankle. This happened because on Saturday, instead of celebrating international "Urban Indian"-themed arts and music at the Seattle Center, we went to a BBQ in Northgate. Light rail is about to be in the news in a big way again. Shortly after announcing an increase in ridership of 12.5 percent on Sound Transit and 7 percent on King County Metro last year, it's looking like light rail will be back on the ballot in '08. The Seattle Transit Blog, The Stranger and others are all predicting that the Sound Transit Board is coming back to voters with another light rail expansion......

"I don’t venture north of even the cut, unless provoked." So said one Seattlest contributor when we asked what inspires us to turn our backs on downtown and drive north. Wimp. What counts as northern Seattle? We don't mean "North Seattle" -- the U District, Ballard, Fremont. We mean northern Seattle -- north of 85th, city limits until 1954. We fudged a bit, including a few places between the city limits and King-Sno county line.......
