Greenwood Motorcycle Crash Sends Riders Flying
Last night a motorcycle carrying two people (apparently driving a bit too fast) were screaming down Greenwood Avenue around 8:48 p.m., when they collided smack-dab into a car turning left onto 102nd Street. The cause of the crash has not been confirmed, but it did result in both riders being thrown a great distance from the bike, causing serious life-threatening injuries. It's a sad but strong reminder that summertime begs us to be extra careful, especially when more bicycles, scooters, and motorcycles are back on the road.
Mason County's Most Wanted: Dead Or Popped and Buttered
Seattlest Katelyn alerted us earlier to the vigilante attitude that pervades Mason County. Some of you have mocked this news. For shame! Believe us, you would not be sniggering into your MacBook if you were dealing with the surreal criminal element that our southerly neighbors know all too well: motorcycle-thieving stalks of corn.
Off-Duty Seattle Police Officers Involved in Sturgis Shooting
Though we don't know his name yet, we do know that an off-duty Seattle Police detective and Police Guild board member shot a Hells Angels biker during this years' Sturgis bike rally. The shooting occurred early Saturday morning at a packed bar during the week-long rally. The officer involved in the shooting identified himself as a member of the Iron Pig motorcycle club. (Funny how, when it's a bunch of cops on motorcycles, it is a "club" and not a gang.) Several people questioned about the shooting have identified themselves as SPD officers on vacation, and one man has been identified as a sergeant who once ran security detail for Norm Rice.
The People Demand YouTube Proof and We Provide
Exactly one month ago, Seattlest told you about the fastest speeder ever clocked on I-5 at a whopping 164 mph. The driver of the speeding motorcycle, Ben Howard Kelly, was arrested on I-5, but claimed he had digital camera footage of his record-setting and law-breaking ride.
Fastest Speeder Ever Caught on I-5
A motorcyclist was arrested on Sunday outside of Eugene on charges of reckless driving. Ben Howard Kelley was clocked at going 164 mph on I-5. It is the top speed a trooper has ever verified for a speeder on I-5. Kelley was arrested wearing a helmet, one law he didn't break, but we imagine that wouldn't help much if you crashed at 164 mph.
