Head and the Heart Playing a Sold Out Weekend at Home

Most likely you’ve heard of Head and the Heart by now. If not through Seattlest's many posts, than surely you've seen some mention of the group from every single other news outlet, or have possibly caught them opening for any number of local and national acts.. Its hard not to--they've been involved in a little controversy, and become a mainstay in the Seattle music scene, bringing acoustic Americana into the limelight. more ›

Gallery: Don't Let Devo's Age Fool You

Devo hit the road and began a short tour on Tuesday night in Seattle. Granted, band members’ average age is above AARP eligibility and their show at the Moore didn’t sell out. However that did not stop them from putting on one energetic performance. more ›

Amos Lee at Moore Theater Tonight!

Amos Lee at Moore Theater Tonight!

Amos Lee is still a somewhat unknown name, but he has been on tour with some greats. Considering his youthfulness, it's quite surprising that he's opened for the likes of Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews Band, and Paul Simon. Much of his influence comes from folk and blues with a dash of jazz thrown in. He's a storyteller with quite a beautiful voice to tell them. He has a new album coming out on the 25th of this month that promises to be the best yet. With guest vocalists including Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams as well as Calexico doing the backing music. We're really excited about that last bit of news, Calexico and Amos Lee would seem to fit together like pees in a pod. Beautiful melodic tones and a sweet voice to top it off; sounds like the best musical sundae imaginable. Tonight he's going to serenade Seattle with his dulcet tones at the Moore, and trust us--you'll be sorry if you miss out. more ›

What's That Sound? Taiko Drumming Group Coming into Town

What's That Sound? Taiko Drumming Group Coming into Town

Spent some time reading up on the art of taiko this morning in preparation for Friday’s TAO: The Martial Art of Drumming show at the Moore Theater. We learned that traditional Japanese drums - ranging in size and shape - are referred to as “taiko”, with the word literally meaning “fat drum” in Japanese. In modern terminology, however, taiko is most commonly used in reference to the art form of ensemble Japanese drumming, a performance concept that has exploded in popularity since its inception in 1951. more ›

BEGLEY VISION: We don't know about you but we are stoked about this visit from Ed Begley, Jr., who wants to tell us all about--and write his name on--his new book, Living Like Ed: A Guide To Eco-Friendly Life. It's not clear if Ed bicycled up here from L.A., but you know he could have. The Siskiyou Pass would have been a challenge on a bike this time of year, though, so maybe he stuck with his electric car or jet or what-have-you. The great thing about Ed, really, is that he's (in)famous in L.A. for riding that bicycle--you know, holy shit! a bicycle! A man is riding a bicycle! L.A. could just choke on its exhaust and it wouldn't bug us. If Ed was out of town at the time, we mean. more ›

WHO WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL?: Wow, Seattlest really loved that song when Jewel first came out back in '96. When we went to Lilith Fair, Jewel's set was the one we thought we'd skip and go have dinner during. Then she started, and she was an absolutely captivating performer. We're not totally sure what she's been up to all these years since then, but we can vouch for the truth of the matter that Jewel puts on a great show. If you're looking for some good live music tonight, she may just be the best thing going on. more ›

The Wiggles have sent Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, and Henry the Octopus to host a Wiggle-tastic dance party. For those of you with kids it might be a great idea, but we'll be playing our own character, General WatchESPNAllDay. more ›

Degenerate Art Orchestra @ The Moore

Truthfully, we don't know that much about this event, but judging by the people involved and the press that's already out there we think it's going to be worth your Saturday night. The Degenerate Art Emsemble is a 45 piece orchestra composed of "adventurous classical and improvising musicians." more ›
