Hugo House will be hosting Visiting Hours this Friday at 7:30 p.m., featuring Northwest favorites such as Benjamin Parzybok, Elizabeth Austen, Matt Smith, and Molly Rose. Tickets range from $15-25.

SINGER/SONGWRITER: It's been too long since we heard Molly Rose's dulcet vocals ring out in a local bar, but that's remedied tonight at the Tractor. It's a CD release show for her new album Clandestine, and she's appearing with the Nick Jaina Band and Pickwick. Molly puts just the right amount of poetry into her lyrics, conjuring up image fragments that wriggle like a worm on a catchy hook.

NOT BURLESQUE: Columbia City Theater is a really great room to watch singer-songwriters do their thing. Tonight, the room will host a CD release party for the exquisitely talented Shenandoah Davis, featuring special guest Molly Rose, and others. Grab a drink and kick back in the old Vaudeville theater for a night of introspective, arty songwriting.

Last week, we headed out to Smith to catch up with local singer/songwriter Molly Rose, to chat about her work, learn about her purpose in life, and come back here to tell you people all about it so that you'd feel inspired to head to Columbia City Theater for her show this Thursday night.

Boy, we really like Sera Cahoone. We're sitting here trying to think about what we could say that would motivate you to get out to the Tractor tomorrow to check her out, but really there are few words. She's a little bit country, a little bit folk, a little bit rock and roll. She looks a little bit like our friend Elaine, her band is hella tight, her songs will stick to your sides. She used to be a drummer, but now she just rocks our world. We're going to end band practice early tomorrow and truck it all the way to Ballard for this show. Here's why:

Last night at the Crocodile was one of those evenings you stumble on where things just keep getting better and better. We went down to see headliners Sea Wolf [MySpace] after hearing them do an in-studio bit at KEXP (not posted yet). About two songs in, the indie-folk melodies and lead singer's baritone duets with cello swept us and Shelves of Vinyl off our feet.
