Can't Miss It: Wednesday

BYRNE BABY BYRNE: David Byrne is back in town for a visit to the Paramount. Famous in his heyday for biting the heads off bats in his over-the-top metalhead shows...wait that doesn't seem...where's that bio again? Ah. Yes, the former Talking Heads front man is on a summer tour, playing songs by himself and Brian Eno. You'll hear stuff from Everything that Happens will Happen Today, and some back-catalogue Heads music than Eno had a hand in. Something old, something new, what's not to like? more ›

KEXP in Capitol Hill All Day Friday

Since Capitol Hill denizens stepped up to the plate and donated the most during the 2008 summer membership drive, KEXP is spending Friday hanging out in the neighborhood. John Richards, Cheryl Waters, and Kevin Cole will all broadcast their shows from Caffe Vita--with live performances aplenty, including The Moondoggies, Say Hi, Mates of State, and Black Kids--while other djs will be taking over the sound systems at Linda's, Grey Gallery, the Cha Cha, Havana, Moe Bar, and the Wild Rose. Plus, there's extra discounts and perks for KEXP members at Capitol Hill establishments. Full details here. more ›

EIGHT TRACKS 'N EIGHT TRACKS: Oh wait, that was the predecessor to Tapes 'N Tapes, the band playing at Neumos tonight. Everybody loves a little celebratory Midwestern indie rock on Inauguration Day, right? To prepare, or if you can't make it to the show but still don't want to Miss It, check out this Lollapalooza feature from a year or two ago where you can download the tracks from their set-list. more ›

INAUGURATION PRE-FUNK: On this most hallowed Inauguration Eve, head to Neumo's and raise a mighty yawp for Obama with Orkestar Zirkonium. They'll bring the party with their local take on Eastern European brass and drums. Also on the bill: the funkdefied r&b grooves of Emerald City Soul Club and the urban Latin flavor of Picoso. more ›

Say Hello at Seattlest's Happy Hour This Monday

We'll be there from 5-8 p.m. (happy hour specials begin at 3 p.m. if you get terribly thirsty early on). There will be nametags and markers, and who knows what-all. Hope to see you there! more ›

Seattlest Happy Hour in Photos

When drinking heavily in the afternoon with co-workers, it is always a good idea to bring your camera. So come drink a few with us and play paparazzi at the next Seattlest Happy Hour at Moe Bar on October 20th. more ›

BLACK MONDAY: Good God! Have you been following what's going on in the banking sector? We're closing our WaMu accounts as fast as we can and switching to WSECU before our Wamoola goes the same way as the investors in Lehman Bros. Wait...is that how bank runs start? Shit. Anyway, if ever there was a good day for drinking, it's today. Which is why Seattlest is happy to host a Moe Bar happy hour tonight from five to eight p.m. Come by and enjoy free financial advice from just-this-side-of-homeless Seattlest contributors, spinning fanciful webs of cheap liquor-fueled disinformation and plain old bad advice for your amusement. more ›

In exchange for hanging out with us, we'll regale you with stories of community development committee meetings, which prominent Seattle chef is faking his/her accent, and the criminal predilections of a certain notable neighborhood activist. We Went: The Raveonettes at Neumos
