Seattlest is obviously rather excited about the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows tomorrow night. So excited, in fact, that we thought we'd go to the Google to find out what sorts of happenings are going to, well, happen tomorrow in celebration of the big release. We knew about an event at the University Bookstore and figured something similar would be going down at Elliot Bay Books and maybe one or two local......

Local boys Travis Snider (OF-Jackson High of Mill Creek) and Tim Lincecum (P-UW) were both drafted in the first round of June's MLB draft. Thought we'd check in. Snider, drafted #14 overall by Toronto, is hitting .296 with 5 homers for Pulaski (VA) of the short-season Appalachian League. His second pro homer cleared a 23-foot-high fence and landed across the street from the stadium. To see Snider, you'll have to travel to Pulaski's Calfee Park,......

Pass on local boys Tim Lincecum and Travis Snider, instead selecting RHP Brandon Morrow from Cal, who supposedly throws 99 mph. Watch video of him here. Lincecum went 10th to the Giants. It's rumored that he could be in their bullpen by summer's end. Jackson (Mill Creek) High's Travis Snider went 14th to the Blue Jays.......

And now for a whistle-stop tour of some suburban bowling houses... With 50 lanes under one arched roof, Kenmore Lanes is the area’s biggest bowling center (if not the state’s). Besides its mounted giraffe and elephant heads, it also has a cardroom, which could be its undoing. The Kenmore city council’s recent cardroom ban was met with a lawsuit by the alley, claiming it can’t survive on bowling alone. The venue’s fate is now in......

Seattle is slathered with great local burger chains, what with Dick’s, Kidd Valley, and Red Mill, but our favorite is the mighty Burgermaster -- particularly the one just east of (but worlds away from) upscale University Village. This underrated institution has mastered the burger since it opened as a drive-in in 1953, and later, expanding into an eat-in restaurant. But why no link? The ‘Master is apparently too busy serving up consistently decent, no-frills fare......
