Here are a few offbeat, but family-friendly movies playing this week that should help you through the first round of the holiday season.
This Week in Seattle Cinema: Fun For The Whole Family
Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition
THE BEAT NEVER DID STOP: YO, Son!, possibly the best hip-hop club night in Seattle (featured in Rolling Stone, at one point, even) and one that's been going strong for years, is having a "Classic Edition" 7th anniversary party at the War Room on Saturday. B-Mello and DV One will be spinning classic hip-hop (yesssss) all night. The party should rock hard and steady late into the night, if we know hip-hop heads in this town (and we do), so come early and stay until the wee hours to get your fix for the weekend.
We've Got A Theory. It Could Be Bunnies!
Back when Buffy (BtVS, that is) was on, our clan would gather on Tuesday nights to recap the week before, watch the new episode, and speculate wildly about where things were going next. We rotated hosting duties. We can't think of a TV show since that glued us all together like that (even the seventh season, which glued us mainly in disbelief that it was ending).
Oh, We DARE You To Muppet With Us!
What better way to kick off Pride Weekend than with a parable about the gay recruitment agenda -- incidentally we hear David Bowie modeled his Goblin King performance after Johnny Depp -- and another one another one about Republican oilmen clashing with Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon?
For Your Consideration: This Weekend at SIFF
The end is near. Soon SIFF will be but a fading memory. So if you've been putting it off, this weekend is the last chance until next year for you to get some festival action. As an added bonus, on Sunday night at the Broadway Performance Hall, there will be an encore presentation for two of the films (one short, one full-length) that end up taking home SIFF awards. If you missed 'em the first (and second) time around, be there!
