This week we learned Tech Crunch's outspoken, oft disliked blogging mastermind Michael Arrington has moved to Seattle - about 3 months after openly stating that Seattle pales in comparison to Silicon Valley in tech relevance. "If you don’t think you have what it takes to make it in Silicon Valley, maybe Seattle or other mini-tech hubs is the place for you." He proceeds to explain that Seattle is great ...we've got nature and culture and a wonderful lifestyle! But that those are selling points for pansies, people that don't have what it takes to commit 110% of their life to grinding at innovation. Gates: "People should just buy a cd and rip it"

Bill Gates made some interesting comments on Digital Rights Management in front of a group of bloggers today in Seattle. Michael Arrington of TechCrunch and a room full of Mac laptop-wielding leading-blogger types got to chat with Gates on the subject of the approaching Mix Conference in Las Vegas, and one of the questions that was asked concerned the long-term viability of DRM. The Microsoft Zune has gotten a lot of criticism over its implementation of rights management, particularly in the way it "expires" previously free tracks that are transferred from one Zune to another as well as the Zune's departure from Microsoft's previous "Plays For Sure" rights management scheme. more ›

Something's going on at TechCrunch, the website you and 18 kajillion other Web 2.0 fans have recently become slavishly addicted to. Are they reporting on where venture capital riches go over there, or are they directing it? It's open to questioning. Anyway, TechCrunch wonderboy-in-chief Michael Arrington is not exactly AWOL right now, but he's obviously taking it down a few notches and there's a new face picking up the slack in a decidedly journalist-y manner.
