We've Had It With Adrian Beltre

Until recently, the rabid M's fan blog Lookout Landing sported this tagline: "If You Think Adrian Beltre Is Bad And/Or Overrated, I Hate You And Find You Stupid." Fair enough. Beltre isn't bad or overrated. A Gold Glover and above-average offensive player, he's the best third baseman in Mariner history. He just stinks at the craft of hitting a baseball.

According to the Times some doctor man is going to poke around Felix Hernandez's elbow before this afternoon's game, and then talk to the media about what he found.

Little tip to the Mariners, the next time the jewel of your franchise leaves the game with an apparent injury don’t play some happy Van Morrison song about love. Instead, as our friend pointed out, you might want to play something more appropriate, like the Six Feet Under theme.

--Brett Tomko, who we'll always love for his terrific relief performance in this critical game, is the Dodgers' fifth starter, beating out Washington State High School Hall of Famer Mark Hendrickson.

Yesterday, the Mariners signed closer J.J. Putz to a three-year contract with a team option for the fourth year. The contract's worth $13.1 million, and includes a $1.5 million signing bonus. We've got a feeling J.J. will just be randomly checking his balance at pretty much every ATM in the city the next couple of days.

Three years ago, we all hoped for aging middle infielder Omar Vizquel to fail a physical so the M's wouldn't complete an agreed-upon deal for him. And our pleas were heard.

One commenter greeted our proposition that the Mariners could make the postseason next year so derisively, we were forced to do some extra research just to make sure we weren't going nuts.
