Tomorrow Live at KEXP Volume Three is available for purchase online and at music stores around town. Seattlest Jack has already given his play-by-play of the album. It seems that he's partial to Ghostland Observatory's "Move with Your Lover" and Lady Sovereign's "Public Warning," while we have always been a sucker for the lilting live version of Grizzly Bear's "Knife." You can read about all the CD's tracks and hear a thirty-second sample of......

Rob Gordon once said, "The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don't wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules." Thanks Rob. Well said. If Rob's take......

Day one's been largely covered, so here Seattlest will just fill in some gaps, bullet-style, so we can try to catch the tail end of Dengue Fever's set. Funnel Cake - There's funnel cake to be had. 'Nuff said. Jamie Lidell - If you've seen Lidell before, you already know how engaging a performer he is. Well, he certainly didn't disappoint this time around, doing his patented show filled with improvisation, jokes, some beautiful soul......

Seattlest may have spent Saturday sweating our asses off and getting seriously sunburned, but we managed to catch some of the best of the best of what that Bumbershoot thing had to offer. The first thing we did was head over to the mainstage to check out Olympia-based supergroup Gossip (we hear they dropped the "The"). Gossip rocked so hard we forgot to take notes - we were too busy thinking "hells yeah!" Then......

What a great way to close out the summer: Beer, fried food on stick, irritatingly large crowds, great music, and a slight chance of rain (remember last year?). Seattlest loves us some Bumbershoot though, and we wouldn't let some pesky weather ruin our fun. This year looks to be a good one. A couple things we are digging right off the bat are the addition of good bands on the outdoor stages and ditching the......

Decisions, decisions. This member of Seattlest will have a good friend in town for the duration of Bumbershoot weekend, so most of our scheduling will depend on him. Good thing our friends tend to have taste. Present company excluded. On Saturday, we want to check out new Sarathan psych-rockers The Purrs, but we'll also catch Jamie Lidell. We have seen him once before, but our friend has not and we think Jamie's retro-futuristic electro-soul......

Bumbershoot sent out an email this morning announcing a bunch of acts for this year's Smaller, Better Festival. There's even more hiphop on the bill with the addition of local act Blue Scholars and Common Market and Brit chick Lady Sovereign (who we're looking forward to seeing with The Streets soon). Area indie rockers Crystal Skulls and Rocky Votolato will be there and to continue the trend of one Brit band for every couple of......
