FOLK MUSIC GREATNESS: National touring folk music artist Tracy Grammer is in town tonight at the Fremont Abbey, making a rare Seattle appearance with Seattlest's own folk sensation Kim Ruehl. Grammer's touring for her award wining album Flower Of Avalon, and even Joan Baez speaks her praise: "Tracy Grammer is a brilliant artist and unique individual. Her voice is distinctive, as is her mastery over the instruments she plays.”

Lapsing into first person alert!

Woo hoo! Friends of Seattlest Mean Recess are releasing a CD Saturday at Jules Mae, a release which Seattlest quite possibly personally caused to be delayed, by the way. Man Rockwell and Spanish for 100 are also playing and there's no YouTube for any of them, sadly. Also, Seattlest's own Kim Ruehl is at Cafe Bella downtown tonight at 9.

This weekend there are a lot of shows that we recommend you avoid, not that you're going to listen to Seattlest and tear up your tickets or anything, but if you previously had no idea these were happening this weekend you can pat yourself on the back for successfully avoiding any mention of them so far. First Fishbone is playing Studio 7. Stay away. Second, Jello Biafra is in town. Not there's anything wrong with Jello, exactly. Let's just say he draws a particular crowd. Finally, the Gypsy Kings are at the Paramount.

Yeah, yeah, KEXP has an online feed and there's plenty of other internet radio worth listening to out there, but you're here and you might as well listen to these. Also, if you're a band and you have full mp3 files online send us a link and maybe we can include them in next week's playlist.

Now that there's a chill in the air, Seattlest has taken to closing our windows at night before curling up in a warm bed with some hot cocoa and earplugs. That's right, it's officially the fall tour season, and there's live music galore. Behold!

Seattlest doesn't find this picture funny at all. We know firsthand how hard those awkward years of high school can be. The pimples, the pants that didn't fit right, the God-awful hours spent wishing Heather Cannon would think of us as more than that creepy guy staring at her.
